Hi all Marc needs to reboot the server shortly, so if you see it's gone off line don't worry - it should only be for around 5 mins - go grab a coffee and normal service will be resumed This should hopefully speed things up as i'm noticing it's rather slow x

There is now a new forum called "NEW FORUM PROBLEMS" just below this one. Please post any problems you are experiencing within that section NOT in the shoutbox NOT in a message to a member of staff Please ensure to post it in there as I have a million things to sort out on the forum and I don't want to be chasing my own tail.

Hi Guys, Welcome to the new forum. Please note that I know it looks very bland however there is currently no sidebar, user colours, shoutbox, latest posts etc etc and they will be coming. There are a lot of settings to be changed, I know about them please do not inform me of them until I say so. Anyone who has access to other areas, please note I am aware they are not there at present. They will be, Im just still going through permissions. 22 Hours downtime ........ Yeah ok, so maybe it was a bit longer. So shoot me LOL. Needless to say I wont be sorting everything today.

So here is the plan for tomorrow night peeps. 11pm GMT the forum will go offline for the last time on the current software. After which I will start the conversion process. If you are interested at any point as to how this is going you can see it from the status updates which will be posted on the conversion update page created by jos (see other announcement). The downtime will be anywhere between 8 and 14 hours, so I would expect it to be online somewhere between 8am and 2pm GMT on Saturday. So a quick recap on what to expect and some other items I have not mentioned as of yet. EVERY user will have to reset their password. When yo…

With the upcoming Husky Owners downtime tomorrow evening it's understandable you might feel some withdrawal symptoms. To make your mind a bit at ease I created a little live status page where you can follow the progress of the conversion as it happens. You'll be able to see the completed tasks, the ones that still need to be done and any noticeable status updates. http://status.husky-owners.com/ Even when the forum goes offline, you'll still able to reach this. This page is LIVE, you can simply leave this page open as everything gets updated as it happens. Hope this will make the downtime a bit better for you all EDIT BY MARC:- …

Hi Guys, So I thought I would give you a bit of an update as to where I currently am on the upgrade tests. We are definatly going to lose the items I mentioned in previous posts, however these are largely irrelevent as they would be replaced within hours just through activity on the forum. The only thing I am bothered about is the fact that the image attachments that are shown in the posts at present are a little screwed up. The attachenets are there just fine so we dont actually lose anything, however where they are attached in the post as full images is just showing as BB Code. I am going to go through this with Jos tomorrow however as far as I can see …

Hi all, This is very very important to anyone who only uses the forum and logs in via facebook. You need to ensure that you have your own email address entered into your user account. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECOVER YOUR PASSWORD TO RE-ENTER THE SITE AFTER THE SITE CONVERSION ON FRIDAY NIGHT Click here and update if you need to do so http://www.husky-owners.com/forum/account/contact-details Sorry for the caps, just wanted to emphisise that as clearly as possible. I have no other way of contacting facebook only accounts other than on facebook itself.

OK guys, so I have gotten the semi-bad news out of the way. Now for the good news. What will we gain from the new forum software? The honest answer is a hell of a lot. We are currently running on the software with the least features supprisingly. We are moving to the software which has the most by far. They are also the biggest in terms of customer base, which means there are far more 3rd party coders out there who provide addons for the core forum system. That is actually one of the main reasons we are moving. So bare in mind these will not come all at once, but over time you are likely to see things like the following: Customisab…

OK peeps, I should imagine by now that most of you have read my update topic http://www.husky-owners.com/forum/threads/large-update.40239/ .. If you havent I would suggest that you read this first before reading this one. Im posting this as a bit of a warning about the conversion process we will be going through. Although the various other changes that have gone ahead on the forum which have been a long process, they have been somewhat straight forward in the processes that are followed in order to reach the end conversion goal. This one however is anything but. We are converting to the software vbulletin, which is actually the software we started …

Hi Guys, Just to let you know there will be a very large update to the forum going on in a weeks time. This will involve the complete conversion of the forum into another forum software which will leave the forum in a state where we are a lot more enhanced in terms of features etc. We will lose the following from what I can see at present as a result of the conversion process: Passwords Existing Polls on topics (Polls can still be created on new software dont worry lol) Personal Messages If you need any information from your messenger please could you back this up well in advance. This is the first and only warning people …

Mobile devices 1 2 3

Hi Guys, I know a lot of our members use mobiles on the site and use tapatalk/forumrunner. However for some this is not an option. This actually came up today with a member who kicked up a stink about it (stupidly) and is now completely banned from the site. I brought that up because this announcement shows how stupid it is that someone has been banned for something they would not have even brought up had they waited. If you navigate to the site, you will now get a mobile version if you are on your phone. Now bare in mind I have entered as many mobile browsers as I can and have tested a fair few. Only one has not worked so far which I am working on at the…

Hi Guys, After discussion we felt we need to clarify a part of the rules on here. Facebook as a social networking site is quite obviously an excellent place on the net that everyone visits, however there has been recently and in the past groups & pages posted up on here to try and get people to join. This is not allowed on the site as per our competing site advertising rules. Just to point out the reason why. These groups are set up so that people can post pictures, share information about their huskies etc etc. Therefore they directly compete against, and take content away from this site. I know with some this is not the intention, however int…

I got back from husky camp today to a phone call to say that someone who rented a caravan has left it in a state!!! Curtains ripped down and fur mud and all sorts all over the place. It has taken 1 cleaner and 2 supervisors OVER TWO hours to clean the caravan! This has given the forum and our husky camp a BAD reputation and to say i'm unimpressed is an understatement! Myself and all the staff work so bloody hard to ensure we are welcomed at camps, we make promises that we will respect the rules of the camp site and leave it as we found it - as we have faith in everyone that goes to camp that they will respect the rules. …

Hi Guys, Since the move of the forum over to xenforo there were some things that had to go due to the change in software. Unfortunatly some of these were the site sponsor only features, in which I promised to reintroduce over time. So now we have moved server and Ive had chance to actually concentrate on some functionality of the forum I have introduced some new features and sorted out what the site sponsors should have. (Of course this doesnt mean there wont be more added ). WHAT IS A SITE SPONSOR? This is an important question, as in the past there seems to have been a little confusion over this. The reality is the site costs so much…
