Dave Had to go to the vets :(

Recommended Posts

He's not eaten for 3 weeks and has lost weight - he's not entertained his locust or crickets or even morio worms which are his all time favourite :( I'd bought some granulated bee pollen and have been mixing a little water in it and syringe feeding him it and also liquidised his fruit and veg and syringe fed him that as well just to keep him going.

Enough was enough though and he didn't entertain anything so yesterday I found an exotic vet and took him there - they took bloods from him which have come back ok, I also gave him a bath Friday night and he did a poop so i took that with me too - i've got to wait until probably Wednesday to get the results back from that so hoping he doesn't have anything.

Anyway - Wednesday this week a guy on a Bearded Dragon forum i'm on suggested i try Dubai Roaches so i bought a tub from him and they arrived Friday - i offered Dave a few and he loved them! He ate about 8 so not many but huge result! I nearly cried when he ate (soft sod i know)

He's eaten about 5 again so far today so am hoping he will continue to eat - he still doesn't want anything to do with his hoppers or crickets though so i have the constant chirp chirp from the crickets now to contend with and it's driving me bonkers!

Main rant though - how expensive are exotic vets!!! The consultation alone was £38! Worth it though if my baby gets better

Cookies for reading all that and here's a pic i took earlier in the week of my babe

fuss pot is an understatement - had some sunshine this afternoon so let him out for a wander in the front garden and released some hoppers and crickets thinking he'd chased them - did he?

Did he heck - just sunbathed

His Tummy is still full with those delicious roaches!

:grouphug:Hope all continues to go well and he keeps eating and the results come back okay.

Hope he's feeling better soon!

Seems any sort of specialty vet/clinic is always more expensive! Not sure if it's because they get extra schooling/training, or if it's simply because there are fewer of them, so they can charge more due to less competition!

Have you been to Viper & Vine, just off M60? They are very knowledgeable & helped us a lot in the early days

No, i went to one in Oldham - closest exotic specialist to me....just got results back today from fecal samale sent off, he has coccidia and worms! So upset i could cry :(
