Marc Posted October 16, 2011 Report Share Posted October 16, 2011 No doubt some of you will have already noticed some of the feature additions and changes by now, however I am going to run through them here so you all know. Im guessing that a lot of you will have already noticed that there are alerts that are occasionally popping up in the bottom right similar to the below These will pop up when you have an alert and you have interacted with a forum function that refreshes part of a page (or for you fellow geeks, any ajax function). So if you reply to a topic, click like, update your status etc etc and you get an alert then you will see this alert box. Various places on the forum you will see the auto filling in of usernames when you are typing such as when you are in conversations. You will now notice that as well as the name, you can also see the persons avatar. This should make it a lot quicker to spot the person you are looking for Clicking on the post number will now give you the following popup box. Very handy if you want to copy the link to point someone at a specific post on the forum. Email notifications will now look like the below image, giving you more information and making them more usefull when you recieve them. Search functionality has changed somewhat, in that you now have quick searches which you can access by the second dropdown provided You will also note that the search this thread item has dissapeared from the forum. Dont worry, we still have this function, however it has been merged into the search box. You will see that when you click it and you are in a forum/thread that you have options to search just those items. This is also the case for the "Mark forums read" button which will give you the option to mark only the current forum you are in, or all when you are within a certain forum. Another handy addition is the way in which is searches. Now not only will it search the topics, it will also search profile posts and users. Profile posts will be shown as the topics show, and any users found will be shown on the right in a sidebar as shown in the image below. Prefixes are probably one of the biggest changes. You will see on the last image that there are some with the prefix of Tech Update. Some of these will be usable only by staff meaning we can for example show when a husky has been rehomed by changing its prefix. Also clicking on the prefix within a forum will filter the forum posts down to only the ones with that prefix I will however e shortly adding some that members can also use in your posts. So for example I may set up Drawing, crafts, etc within the artwork section. You will be able to use these as shown in the following image. There will be more to come in the very near future. Or is that the posting date and the information to the right was what was submitted, I'm not sure what I'm looking at.
