Alaska's been Attacked!!

Recommended Posts

Just got back from the vets, at about 8 i went to take Alaski for a walk in the park, and there was Brandy (a 6 month old staffy cross) and Luna a 2 or 3 year old Staffy. Immediately they had a little scuff so we broke it up (baby Brandy stayed well out of it) >>> I told Alaska to leave it so she ignored Luna and started to play with Brandy ...BUT Luna was spoiling for a fight and came up beind Alaska very domminantly so then Luna started up again and really went for Alaska ... I dont know at what part it happened but Alaska just switched and had had enough, she went for Luna and it was a big fight, The owner got bitten (by who he knows not) And we got them apart and a bit of Alaska fur has been ripped out, her head was bleeding and her ear was torn away from her head. >>> So we rushed her to the emergency vets, they cleaned her up and said to come back to 2moz as she may need sitches and to be put under, however it's not classed as a real emergency hence why we are going back 2moz. Luna btw is in perfect condition >> not a scratch on her!!!!

Poor Alaska was really minding her own business:mad: She was fine, right after the fight her tail was high and wagging and she was sniffing the grass >>>> But now she seems to be in discomfort, im sooo angry with the owner >>> She let her friend walk her aggressive dog!!! >>> Im going to see her 2moz, make her pay for the vet bills and insist she has her dog on a lead at all times or im going to report her:mad:

If Alaska goes under and the vet reccamneds to take it easy she may not be able to come to the meet:confused: but i hope she can as i think the best thing she can experience is about 15 or more happy huskies >>> It really makes me sick, Alaska has been attacked 3 times by a staff and as a result she will sometimes attack these breeds before they do and have her titled as an aggressive dog >>>> Alaska is fine with most if not all other well adjusted breeds but im telling you she has a thing for staffs and i dont blame her. The vets gave me a cone and we cleaned her up again with warm salt water and put some vaseline on the wound to aid it to bind and sooth the pain, she came straight in and had a drink and fell asleep in her dog bed......fingers crossed she doesn't need to go under >>> the vets said it may very well heal on it's own and its not a very deep wound......

OMG that's awful!!!!

Poor thing, hope she gets better soon. She will prob be in shock, just make sure she's warm and comfortable and she'll recover fine :)

The best thing for her would be to socialise with other dogs sooner rather than later so that she doesn't get warey of them

Kimba and Kaiser send husky hugs to her xxx

How scary! I hope she heals quickly :)

I would definitely keep her away from staffies/bull breeds now, if you know she can be reactive towards them. Even though she's been attacked and had a bad experience, if she starts a fight or tries to attack one of her own accord then she may be labelled an aggressive dog :(

Ice,

Really, really sorry to hear about Alaska being hurt.

When Peiper was four months old a large gut bucket of a Rottweiler cross belted out of a house at her and had her in its jaws, clamped round her back.I had my 8 year old son & 18 month old daughter with me at the time,Freya was in a buggy and it was snowing.

As the in-bred lump let her go and circled for another attack I toe poked it up into the air,all 8 stone of it,only to get lots of verbal grief from it's equally inbred owner.

I called the local Police to find, suprise suprise, that they had been out to the owner before to warn them any more and it would be seized.

I know how you must be feeling right now and hope that your discussion with the owner are successful.

Take it steady with Alaska & lets hope she heals physically an mentally as soon as possible.

Best Wishes,

Kevin & Pack

OMG Tanika  poor Alaska, hope she recovers well!!!

Like everyone else suggested, get her socialising with other dogs again sooner rather than later but dont push her to do it as she may become anxious/fearful and then that may excelerate and become fearful aggression.

Is it Alaska that you walk off lead? If it is and she does go for other staffs (or staff like breeds) on her own accord, I would suggest putting her on lead for now so you have much more control as to where she goes and what she does.

Thanks nix >>> lol and im sure she would be fine with Bing, i dont blame the breed >>> it's the retarded owners! >> My friend has two adorable staffy's, but thanks to some owners they get a bad rep and have done in Alaska's book:confused:

Thanks Bec >>>> Exactly what my trainer said >>> Im a bit worried about that, so i really want to get her down to the meet to make her feel comfortable around doggeys ;)

Lol >>> "equally inbred owners" < Thanks for your concern, Alaska is fine now and im going over to the 'owners' house as soon as my sis gets back >>> worried she may take the piss out of a 17yr old.....you know how some people can be:confused:

And thanks everyone >>> Just got back from the vets, poor Alaska had it cleaned again, restrained by me to get shaved, have a local anasthetic (sp:confused::confused:) and have just the one stitch <<<< It was all fine and an easy procedure but i hated the fact she was scared and needed to be held down and muzzled >>> The one thing i dont like about this vets is they dont give the dogs any treats to settle them down or asscociate a little pain with a huge lump of cheese >> Its very 'in and out' kind of surgery! So im going to bring my own cheese next time lol and make them give her some!!!!

This morning the salt water and vaseline really made a difference, the cut had healed a huge deal and had only a small opening now >>> She's on some meds and has to come back in 10 days to remove the stitch <<< So all is well in that depo.....now i just need to handle that owner, get Alaski to like other dogs now and make sure she doesnt become aggressive because of it!

Btw just to ask, it's not a disolveable stich, can it get wet??? >>> Not stupidly wet, i just wanted to clean the dry blood with some salt water..................?

Thanks Amz >> she's fine now:) Yeah Alaska goes off-lead but she avoids these breeds like the plague >>> It's when she's on the lead and the owners comes up to me and says "Is she friendly?" >> Thats when she thinks theres no escape so she better get in there before they do. I told Alaska to leave Luna and she ignored but Luna wouldn't leave her alone and Alaska did look startled, she's only a baby after all >> and she's got this older, stronger and aggressive dog itching for a fight, it was only when Luna bit her ear did she loose her temper and get vicious >>> I hate seeing her get like that so maybe keeping her leashed would be wise until i get to the forest as you see the scum (like this owner and several others) walk their dogs in the feild, they dont bother to walk up the hill get all muddy and hike through the forest >> Once you get up there you meet the real dog walkers, thats where i met those two nice sibes: Mocha and Bruski >>>> So i just have to be extra careful now....

We'll see how she is at the meet >> Hopefully she will have recovered in all aspects.

i forgot to add that i now carry either Pepper Spray or a Tazer with me on all my walks.

Its near impossible to wrestle off a dog that weighs more than you do. For safety sake for your dog, you and any children.

And in California, everyone and their brothers own Pit Bulls.

Next time if a dog attacks... I'll be ready. I dont give a crap if the owner gets mad at me for tazing their dog. If its trying to draw blood, its an enemy.

Poor Alaska, hope she recovers OK, x

I get sick of ppl saying huskies are vicious, because of their look or reputation of being descended from wolves, etc, but nothing could be further from the truth. I had a run in with 2 blokes in the park last week, Myshka was on the lead (of course!) & this old lab came over, off lead, they sniffed each other, then the lab started snarling & barking, showing it's teeth, heckles up, the lot. We shouted the owner to call the lab back, he laughed & asked what the problem was!! We said we'd let Myshka off lead, as there's no way we would hold her if the lab had attacked, & the other owner told us to stop threatening him!! Some owners are so irresponsible, but it's the poor dog that gets labelled & it knows no different.:banghead:

Husky hugs to Alaska from Myshka :)

btw, you dont necessarily ever have to use a tazer.

The kind that you push the button and there is a little lighting bolt?

You just push the button and the shocking sound it makes is enough of a deterant to repel most dogs... and idiot people. LOL

Mine is 1.2 million volts. So it makes a "TAT TAT TAT TAT" noise when you push the button. It will scare most any animal away so you can avoid a confrontation.

That way if there is a aggressive dog coming at you, you can scare it off before it has a chance to attack.

But if it does before you have the chance..... 1.2 million volts through its fur awta do it. (its not lethal) Probably wouldnt even have any side effects. It would probably cause less damage than beating it off with a chain.

(just thought i would add that for anyone thats freaking out about a tazer)
