Recommended Posts

hi all, thanks for the warm welcome.

we are prospective sibe owners (been trying to adopt/rehome for several months), and are now saving for a new pup.

we are so jealous of you all, and hope to be enthusiastic owners ourselves very soon.

A big thank you to amy for the introduction, and thanks for all the messages of support we have had already.

Cant wait to get the tent out and meet you all when we eventually get our pup.

thank you guys, i will be asking alot, as will claire too i expect but she is presently at work.

im not a long term friend of amy's, in truth we only met today, but she suggested i come here, and i think she already knows how determined i am to either get a new pup or rehome a younger dog asap, its a lifelong dream for me, and living in wareham, we are in the perfect place :-).

All i will ask of you guys at the mo is to bare us in mind if you hear of any pups, weve been searching now for several months and are very keen to become owners.

Thanks again,

Ade and claire x

yes, but it took us a while to find them, we had the first reply from them only yesterday, and are now members and have joined thier rehome list. our biggest problem is that we have to elderly cats, and many of the dogs we have looked at are not good with cats, and obviously its something we have to consider

Yeah cats can be a prob but it's not impossible for huskies and cats to get along - i would ALWAYS err on the side of caution though. My tow boys and my cat cross on the opposite sides of the room LOL and are never ever left alone. When we go out, my boys are crated so I know that Bella, my cat is safe.

I hope you can rehome one, a 2nd hand sibe gives 1st hand love :)

Welcome! I understand how excited you are looking forward to your new husky. As a new owner myself, may I also highly recommend SHWA. They are inundated with husky's who need new homes at the minute. No pressure, but they really do good work. We recently adopted our 2yr old male sibe Zeus from there and he's the best friend we never had!:D

Good luck and see you on here again

thanks guys...SHWA rehoming line isnt open on a monday, hence why we havent got in touch yet, but we have had a positive email from that department on friday, we were just too late receiving it to act on it.

here's hoping they can help us out...we just cant wait..by the way, for the future..what do you guys think of scootering with huskies, its caught my eye and as we live so close to the forest it seemed a great way to exercise the dogs

Hi Ade

Our rehoming officer from SHWA runs his 2 huskies on the scooters in our local forest. We went out to watch last weekend and it's fantastic. Our husky Zeus, is no where near strong enough at the minute however (he was underweight when we adopted him last month), but we reckon by christmas he'll be ready and strong.

It's sorted the yearly dilema on what to buy my other half for xmas this year. Husky Scooter!

Word of advice for the SHWA - our application was delayed as we needed to build a secure fence on one side of the garden. This slowed the process down by about a month. So long as you pass the home inspection, you'll have a furry friend pretty soon.

Good luck .

Hey Ade & Claire,

A big big welcome to the site!!! we rehomed Grey and just like you we couldnt wait to get a sibe. We was already in talks with some breeders but once we saw Grey we knew he was the Dog for us and plus there are so many loving Dogs that need a second chance out there so I defo think SHWA is somthing to look into. I bet you really cant wait but the right Sibe is out there for you so keep looking :D

If are defo looking to rehome you should PM Raindog (mick) I think he does work for SHWA and has rescued & rehomed lots of Sibes. Anyway I hope you have lots of fun on the site everyone is really nice and helpful and defo try and go to one of the meet ups. :D we are yet to go to one but sadly aint got a car

hello all

just thought i would say hi and introduce myself ...... i am claire, ade hill's partner.

like ade has already said we have been looking for a pup for a while now to join our family of 2 old moggies and us. ade is like an excited kiddie and can't wait to complete (although it will probably be the start) the family with a sibe.

our house has been very quiet since our last dog passed away earlier this year and even the moggies are missing having a pup around so here's hoping that the right pup comes into our lives soon

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi guys, as we get closer to the camping trip, and meeting you all, i felt i should explain a few things to our new friends, those of you on facebook will probably already know, but i felt i should tell all, as i value you all as great friends now.

About 4.5 years ago i was diagnosed with leukaemia, turned our to be a miss diagnosis, but only after many more tests and chemo. At the same time my marriage broke down and due to the illness i lost my job...and house.

Claire and i were friends at that time, and i moved in with her so she could help me out.

due to all the pressure my brain kind of went into protection mode, and i became agrophobic.

I was totally house bound for nearly 4 years, to avoid contact with others, again a self protection mechanism, and claire and i moved on to be boyfriend and girlfriend, falling in love. i wasnt even able at the end to walk into my back garden.

in january this year, claire convinced me to ring my gp, and...after a great many refferals, i started to get some help.

Claire promised me that if i beat this illness she would allow me the husky i have always wanted, as the doctors feel its just what i needed to get me outside and socialising.

As i write this, i am about a year ahead of my treatment shedule, i go out walking about 5 miles a day in the forest, go to the supermarket, and as most of you know, we recently had a big party at our house...ive nearly got it beaten.

i dont normally tell people this as i have found it tends to change peoples opinion of me, and i would rather people think of me as fun and happy ade, im sure you know what i mean.

I decided to write this, as you guys have made me feel so very welcome, i have friends i can talk too and rely on again after 4 years, andrather than just talk online..i really really want to meet you all, which is the main reason we want to go camping with you all, as you can imagine its no mean feat for an agrophobic, but there is no way i am missing it.

we now have our furbabies reserved awaiting us picking them up in newcastle, and claire and i feel at ease and part of a new family here.

A huge thankyou to you all, you have helped me more than you know.

Ade
