Lucas, a beautiful black & white boy who received worldwide attention and support last year after the horrible case of abuse that he was the victim in came to light, has finally come home to his forever home with our pack. He had been held in puppy jail as evidence while the abuser walked free. Last Thursday was his day in court and the abuser was convicted:biggthumpup: and Lucas was released:biggthumpup::biggthumpup:. I drove to McMinnville TN (650 miles, 12 hours each way) and got him. We arrived back home late yesterday. He is a very sweet and loving boy especially considering what he has gone through.

More info and pictures are on his Dogster page:

Lucas has been here a week now. He has fit into the pack wonderfully. The only grumbling was from Nanook in the first few minutes, since then they have been playing quite a bit. Zoe and Princess play with him a lot too. The rest are friendly towards him but not as playful. No accidents in the house either. All in all he is a wonderful BIG (78 lbs) boy who just wants to be loved on and give love back.

The only bad baggage he seems to have brought along with him is he will run and hide if we fuss at one of the other kids (he has not given us any reason to fuss at him at all). He also does have some difficulty grabbing food out of his bowl as he has no canines to pick it up with and almost no other teeth to chew with. Soft food is a must because of all the dental work. We understand that a couple of "human" dentists helped in the repair of his teeth as the vet had no experience in the type of repairs that he needed. All total he lost 6 teeth, had root canals and fillings on 13, and crowns on several more. All total the near $5000 which was paid with donations sent in from many concerned people.
