StormFi
Hey Everyone! Since in our apartment there isn't any closed doors, wanted to ask how is in other homes with Huskies? Have full access around house/apartment or are there some closed doors? Oh, and I have to admit that balcony door is closed during winter, my owners think apartment gets too chilly if door is open when there is -20c outside
BingBlaze n Skyla
ours dont BUT if we didnt have skyla then Blaze would have full access to the whole house - the reason they now dont is skyla is a chewer and its not fair to have her locked in the kitchen/dining room on her own so we put blaze in there with her - bings has the whole of upstairs but will just sleep on my bed
Lil Miss Bump
mine have the run of my house.....unless im out and then dex is in his crate in the back room and ozzy is in the back room with him but with free roam xxx
Kirbysowner
mine gets access to the entire apartment 24/7. except the patio when is too cold, then we let him out every so often to do his business
SaraB
Mine get access to the living room, family room, kitchen, and porch (when the cats aren't out there), but not the bedrooms. And they are in their crates when we can't watch them.
Shadowpup
There is always someone home but if I go out while my husband is asleep they are crated.
Marley & Lumikkis Mummy
Marley has full access to downstairs but isnt allowed upstairs because its carpeted up there and he would pee on the carpet still only being a pup
lebe03
Polee has free roam of the house and back garden
persephona
Usually, he just has free roam of the hallway, which is quite large plenty of space for him. We did happen to forget some doors open a few times, but he is very reliable so we've never had any trouble with this.
cas
My two have full access to all the house even if i'm out.
achelow
Free roam when we're home, hall only when we're not. She does better in a confined space, doesn't fret at being alone and I don't have to dog-proof the entire flat like this either.. She's lucky that the hall is actually the largest space in the flat anyway, so plenty of room to wander/play with her toys if she wants.. Austinville
My husky, Omryn, allows me to have full run of her home......... providing I feed her when she summons me.
Paranormal Wolf
I live in a big log house and our dogs pretty much have full access but it also depends on a few things lol. In the winter we basicly live in the back room with a heater going and the dogs will stay back there with us till it's potty time lol or if we go into the living room they can follow. Now that's it's warming up we are staying in the livingroom and the dogs have access to almost everything now. We do keep the bedroom, basement and upstairs room closed but they are free to wonder around but we also keep our eyes on them lol. When we are sleeping or not at home both dogs go into their crates till we return.
Joey.Zarly
They used to do whatever they liked, be inside, in any room etc (they where always behaved) but since where having a baby a lot has changed! Their not allowed inside full stop, nor the car (due to hair and seat covers don't work) but they enjoy walking around and we go out with friends in their cars haha! ShadowKia&Flynn
mine had access to hallway and upstairs during the night (now gated as we have flynn), free roam all day if im in aain apart from upstairs as we have flynn but wen we're out its the hall way which suits them just fine as they can potter or fight and its cool in summer
SarahNukka&Shadow
When Im home they are where ever I am upstairs when Im upstairs, downstairs when Im there.. when I go out if their not cattered for (usually will leave them with someone or have someone watch them) then my girl is crated as she cant be trusted but my boy just sits in the window watching for me to come home so he has free run of downstairs (livingroom and kitchen). He sufferes with seperation problems so hes too anxious to be bored and chewy!
Elyse
Well considering Suka can't be left alone...he has to tag along with us in the car. (which he's happy about, so no big deal.) Even so, we couldn't really leave him in the kitchen or the living room because most of the house is open-concept so... He used to have free reign of the house when we were home, but because of his leg/hip injury and/or possible arthritis issue then he's confined to either the upstairs of the downstairs. He can't go up and down the stairs by himself unless we 'escort' him down via collar and open up the gate we bought. He thinks the stairs are a racetrack, you see. Saffmonster
I shut my bedroom door and the downstairs hallway door but she has free roam of the rest of the house.
Indigo & Oisin
Mine have the Kitchen and the garden, i leave the kitchen door open for the most of the time so they can go in or out whenever they like, I fetch Paolo in to sleep on the end of my bed at night, the huskies come in seperately for cuddles with me in the living room in the daytime if i'm lounging around and they love being left to do their own thing until i herd them up for walkies or dinner time! snssewell
Mine has access to the whole house except my daughters room cause she is a teenager and doesn't know how to keep stuff off the floor. Other than that they can go in and out and roam the house as they please. We have a storm door with a doggy door to the back yard from the living room which they have access too as long as I am home except at night I close/lock the regular door. Whisper usually lays wherever I am at and Zihna ... well she is all over the place. Either outside, in my office looking out of the window, in the bedroom napping on Whispers bed, or in the living room sleeping in Whispers crate or stretched out on the floor somewhere. The only part of the house she does not have access too is our bonus room over the garage. I put a baby gate up on the bottom of the stairs. It's my husbands man cave/game room and we have a lot of game consoles and games up there with cables all over the place plus a brand new couch. Nobody ever goes up there unless my daughter has friends over or when my husband is home and when someone is up there we do let them go up. But Zihna often has TOO much fun running up and down the stairs lol. When I leave, Zihna goes in her crate in my bedroom and Whisper usually goes in the bedroom and goes to sleep. At least thats what I am thinking since he always comes from that direction all sleepy when I get home! She has been pretty good as far as destroying things except the back yard LOL! Astaerelle
Yes Silke its called a FLOORDROBE, lol. And as a teenager I also have one... No way would I give Riley free access to the house. If I take my eyes off him for 5 minutes, he gets into something he shouldn't. He's destroyed so many of those fluffy shower scrubber things... Rips them up and there are pieces all over the house.. When we are not home the dogs go outside. We live on a 5 acre property with good fences so they are more than happy to have that big area. Riley comes inside and sleeps in the aircon in my room when I am usually studying *cough procrastinating* in the middle of the day, and he also comes into my room at night to sleep. He would rather sleep on the tiled floor than on my bed with me, which I wouldn't have a problem with. He is allowed in the house pretty much everywhere but must be supervised... All the times I have gone to the toilet or had a shower and left him inside, I have walked out to find he's taken all the rubbish out of the bin or dragged things off tables/benches... The problem is he eats EVERYTHING and I mean everything.. Nothing is safe in the house when he's around!!

The problem is he eats EVERYTHING and I mean everything.. Nothing is safe in the house when he's around!! Floordrobe  . That is funny!!! lol! I will have to mess with her tomorrow! ha ha ha! It was nice in the winter cause for some reason the doorway to my daughters room must have expanded from the cold and her door would close but pop back open if you touched it. Zihna had that figured out quick and so did my daughter and her room was clean all winter!!! But now its warm again here and her door shuts normal and the mess is back . It will get better with the chewing on everything. When you catch him chewing on stuff just say NO and exchange it with one of his toys or a rawhide. And when you catch him chewing on a bone or toy then lots of praise and give him a treat. I always tried to have some treats close by and used to throw them to her when she made the right decision. Should have seen her face when treats were falling from the sky when she chewed on her own stuff I think Zihna was about 7.5 or 8 month old when I was able to take a shower without her getting into stuff. Now they both lay in front of the bathroom door when I shower and wait for me or Zihna will lay by the front door on the tile. Not much longer and he will start calming down some and you may even miss some of the crazy stuff he used to do!
BlueWolf
Glala and Dana usually have access to the whole house, but never go upstairs for some reason. Dana sometimes does, but only when there is already someone up there. When it's nice weather (like now) we also just let the door to the garden open. Rich & Kody
I would love to but nooooooo, I left Kody and Dakota alone for 2 hours when i went to the shops, came home to find they had decided we needed a new carpet and pulled the old one up for me. Problem is a) its new, i dont own it the landlord does and c) they ate part of it :/ If im at work their at the pet sitters, and if i have to pop out they are in their crates. Rule of thumb i wont have them in the crates longer than 3 hours.
