For non-geeks: I have a computer running in the attic. It has been turned on 803 days ago and never has been shutdown or rebooted ever since  :P Every properly maintained computer can run for days, weeks and months straight. But never had I ever one that got more than 800 days! The last time I touched that box was in the summer of 2011 and it's still running strong!

OH !!!! Jos,

What have you done ???

Pray Linda never even thinks about that PC ever again.

Don't you know she's a fully trained Schrodinger Observer.

If she even considers the possibility that it might or might not have stopped working. . . . .

Well the Cat WILL be in the Box.

I used to leave mine on 24/7 till I found out it was costing 10p a hour £2.40 a day £876 a year I would sooner go on holiday with that :)

There is a big difference between bulky desktop computers and computers designed to be a server. We've got a very energy conserving one and have even modified it. It makes barely any noise or heat. I even have another one (the black box in the bottom left) that's using even less energy as it has no moving parts.
