Rules regarding swearing

Hi All,

It has been brought up a few times now that the rules regarding swearing are a little ambiguous and therefore leaving people unsure as to what they can say and what they cannot. Therefore for this reason we are changing the rules so that everyone knows what is acceptable and what isn't.

So first of all what is classed as acceptable and what isn't?

Words such as C*NT and TW*T have no place on our forum. They are vulger and there are plenty of words that can be used in their place, even when posting items in the steam room. If anyone is seen to be using these, please expect a warning to go alongside them. There is no need for it.

Milder words such as shit, crap, bollox etc may be used within topics and posts. We are not a nanny society and do not want to be a community where people have to watch every single word they use within the forums. However these should be used in moderation and in appropriate circumstances.

Inappropriate Circumstances & 'In Moderation'

I feel that this should be explained somewhat. An inappropriate place in which to be swearing would include in a debate/arguement with another member on the forum. Any place where they are used in order to express arrogance toward another member will be frowned upon and likley be dealt with in the same arrogance. Expect to recieve twice what you give out if you decide to use bad language in an inflamatory manor. This will be dealt with on a case by case basis by the staffing team and would not rule out a ban from using the forums. If you are using phrases such as "For fuck sake can you not see that you are wrong?" and "Why are you being such a wanker?" in a topic, this is clearly out of order and will be dealt with as such.

By 'in moderation' we mean that we do not expect to see someone swearing in every post that they do, or doing a post where every other word is one that will never enter a dictionary. Again there is no need for it and I would hope people have more brains than to be doing so. Please do not treat this as 'Oh thats a bit ambiguious' which is a comment I have had in the past. Its not rocketscience and is far from ambiguious. You know where you are swearing like a trooper so refrain from doing so please.

Areas where swearing will not be allowed under any circumstances

  • SHOUTBOX

  • TOPIC TITLES

  • STATUSES

Please ensure you take these on board as we will not be repeating this over and over to the same members. Its not a long list and therefore we dont expect to have to be heavy on moderation of it. These have been set as these can be seen by all potential new members and seeing it on the front page of the forum does not look good to new members and also does not look good to any potential sponsors.

Hope this now clears up any uncertainty. The rules will be changed to reflect the above and changed to the following:

1.09 - Swearing - Whilst mild Swearing may be allowed in moderation this is not to be used in the following circumstances. To flame another member or staff, whilst in direct conflict in a topic. NO BAD LANGUAGE is to be used in topic titles, the shoutbox, or your statuses and this includes the use of **** to cover it.
