Huskyfan121091
Hi my name is Zach and I have two husky babies Maya who is 6 and Kobe who is 2 and still acts much like a puppy even though he thinks he is super tough. Also in the pictures are my 6 year old golden who wished he had two other Golden’s instead of huskies. Sort of kidding they all love each other but the huskies don’t give my golden any breaks! Anyways I attached probably way to many pictures of Maya and Kobe. I joined because I want to know how to properly care for coats. I have a regular brush, undercoat rake, furminator, blow dryer, so I think I have everything. The problem I am having which isn’t really that big a deal is right before the tail on the top of the back the hair seems to be brittle with little to no undercoat. Everywhere else is good. I didn’t know if there is a solution to this or not. They all eat Taste of the Wild salmon and each get a fish oil pill as well. They recently relocated with me from Syracuse (120in of snow a year) to Miami Florida. Transition has actually gone really well my 6 year old Maya actually loves to sunbath for some reason. Thank you for any help 🙏 . I heard taste of the Wild is good and they love it but maybe that’s the problem? I thought it was a good brand.
BingBlaze n Skyla
Welcome to the pack , gorgeous pups I'd get rid of the furminator If it's the one with the blade as over time this will damage the coat
Huskyfan121091
Ok I will for sure. Thank you. Also forgot to mention the fur is coarse with no undercoat in the same spot they get their Frontline flea medicine. Maybe another brand? I thought frontline was supposed to be good. I have read there is non chemical flea treatments but my vet said fleas can be really bad in Florida and recommended I continue the frontline. Also my boy Kobe loves to mark everything with his pee. I know this is somewhat normal but anything to curb it?

Frontline used to be good but a few years ago they changed it so you could buy it over the counter so it is lower strength, look into Advantage spot on made by Bayer you want to get a perscrition strength flea treatment if you do get flea's you will need to treat the dog and the house. drops on the dog and a spray that does the house might even find a bug bomb thing that does fleas in the usa. As to scent marking nope nothing you can do to stop that, unless he is doing it in the house then you need to go back to basics training wise so he knows pee outside, my husky scent marks we went on holiday and he tried to scent mark both sides of teh highstreet in one pass when we came home a month later
