We in the uk tend not to think about it in the same way and are a bit squeamish when the subject of hunting and killing comes up. It spills over into other areas such as huskies with strong prey drive who could if necessary survive without humans to provide for them. My dogs have never been encouraged to hunt because that would put my cats at greater risk, but I know people who actively encourage theirs because it's in the nature of the breed to do so.
