BingBlaze n Skyla
It breaks my heart , a lot of people will remember skyla getting attacked 6 years ago , despite trying to socialise her she is still fearful of other dogs , it really showed today when I was talking to a couple of people at the bus stop when walking the dogs , this dog across the road in his house was barking - we couldn't see him just hear him - and skyla sat there n cried the whole time this dog was barking until I gave her a fuss n left my hand resting on her how people can say dogs live in the moment n don't remember is beyond me n I hate the owners of the dog who attacked her even more! wolfpup
I am so sorry for Skyla, that one bad dog (and owner) has changed her life forever. Many many years ago I had a Borzoi who was attacked by an Akita when he was young. It didn't appear to affect him too badly (once his neck healed up) - but years later when he saw another Akita - he went for it and would have had it if he hadn't been on a lead. He never showed any sort of aggression to any other dog he met throughout his 12 year lifespan - but if he saw an Akita he left the dog under no illusions not to come near him. It was though he was saying "try me now I am grown up"! It could have so easily affected him like Skyla. Give her a hug from me and tell her that she really needn't be afraid as you are with her and will not let anything happen to her. In truth she already knows that as she stopped crying at the slight reassurance from you
Emma
Awww Nix, I'm sorry to hear she had a rough day. [emoji20]Ice is very wary of other dogs, better than he used to be but I'm still really wary as one negative experience is all it could take to put him off again. PaulG
animals have LONG memories speaking from a farmers point of view when you have a young bull that needs his nose ring put in you always phone a vet who is not your regular vet as that bull will remember who put the ring in and hate that person with a passion for the rest of its life so you get some one to do it they will never meet again hence not some one from your regular practice. and half a tonne of upset bull is not something you want to meet again
