Area Co-Ordinators - last chance

Hi All

This is the last chance for applications for the below areas, we have now decided to make them slightly broader as we would end up with some area's with very few people in.

Areas are (for the UK)

North

Midlands

South

We haven't had many applicants so please come forward if you are able to and want to get more involved.

What is an area co-ordinator?

An Area Co-Ordinator will be responsible for looking for new places to hold husky meets in their area, eg north wales, south west uk, parts of the US - ANY member in ANY country can apply. You will to find a nice place to walk and post up a thread on here, and facebook if you have it or anywhere else where you can publicise it - twitter for example. Attend the meet, take pictures and then come back and post on the forum of your great day out with the other members that have joined you.

We will also like the area co-ordinator to arrange Husky Camp's in October in your area, so for example search for a camp site - post up, publicise and arrange activities whilst at camp - eg walks, fun games, agility etc. You do not need to have attended a husky camp before - i can talk you through anything and everything. More details will be provided to those who are successful.

So - do you like the sound of things so far?

What we are planning on is have GLOBAL husky meets in the near future, the more imminent reason for asking for applicants to this role, is so that we can have more people experiencing husky meets and also husky camps. We are looking at having 4 or 5 husky camps, ALL at the same time in October - yes there will be smaller groups but everyone will be able to go - the end result for camp is for people to socialise and for the dogs to have fun.

Please PM myself if you are interested in helping in this type of role, I will need to know what part of the country you are in and how far within a radius, you can travel. So say myself for example - Rochdale - able to travel 50 mile radius.

If you apply for this role, you must be happy to:

Organise meets

Organise camps

Sounds like something you'd like to do?

PM ME :D

My plan as of now is to come back home once I finish University in July, meaning I'll be based in Kent again. If there's a spot open for the South in July then I'll take it, I would absolutely love to do something like this. I just wouldn't want to commit to where I am now (the north) if I'm not going to be here long, and wouldn't want to commit to the south yet as I won't be able to actually produce anything productive for the area until I'm back for good. I'll be in the south well in time to arrange a Husky Camp though!

I'm sure myself and Beccs could help out with the northeast or northumberland ish areas

thank you xx

I've just set up for NW, midlands and South at the moment as we don't have enough members in that area yet however once the member base grows we'll need peeps to help out with that location! :D

So does that mean Wales and Scotland will be left out when it comes to meets and that we wont have our own regional when it comes to October? A lot of people were moaning when it came to them travelling anything more than 2-3 hours. Well so far in just my experience I have had to travel well over 5 hours to both camps. Heaven help us when its more regional and as for any members in Scotland. We will never get to see them lol. Is this forum becoming more England based?

I think there are about 4-5 regular users in wales although it would be nice to have a camp/meet close I can't see many people turning up, I don't mind travelling for a meet tbh...

When I have been talking to other Welsh members there has been an interest for us to meet up and quite a few did meet up down Pembrey during the rally. The thoughts that were coming out were that it was ok for us Welshies to travel everywhere else but not to have our own in our area. A lot of people have also shown interest at holidaying in Wales so could be an option for others further away. The problem that will always occur, no matter what 'kind' of forum be it cars, dogs, you name it, people will be more keen to attend meets where the 'big guns' appear if you catch my drift.

It's something I guess us Scots get used to. We are in Ayrshire so not exactly the Highlands but it still takes us 2 hours just to reach the border. If things crop up during the summer and we can fit it in around our hols then we try to get to things ( we have done this to attend Woodvale rally with our old bus for several years, so would try to get to a husky meet or camp)

As luck would have it the campsite we stayed in last summer was the same site the forum used for the October camp but it was outwith our school hols and it took us about 6 hours to get to it in the summer so unfortunately not do-able. We chose to live here so it's down to us to decide what we can manage.

certainly not becoming more England based at all :) In fact, we are wanting to have coordinators in Scotland and Wales, i'm just not sure we have the member base to hold a camp in either area yet - if you want to go for area coordinator for S Wales i'd love you to, if we can get the member base built up there then regional camps there could be good to go :D

Same reply kinda to your post too - again, would love to have a higher member base in Scotland, and if you're interested in going for area coordinator for Scotland i'd love you to :) and again, if we can get the member base up more there then we can have regional camps there too :D

you could also have a small camp with members in your area just to meet up and have a fun weekend couple of walk bite to eat few drinks at a nice location...

the main problem with Scotland is so much of it is unpopulated and people are spread far and wide.

So far we have been sticking to the meets at the dog park in Glasgow every couple of months and enjoying those.

I'll vouch for this, I was lucky enough to attend one when we stayed in Livingston with relatives .... it's like everything "new", it takes time to get the word out there & build a good group but a lot of it is about making the effort seeing what you can achieve

Weekends are fine for us too as we are both free every weekend. Perhaps will have to sort something out for the near future.
