HeatherZeman
I've seen all but 11 of these. I watch a LOT of movies. My boyfriend and I own over 400 DVDs LOL LOVED some: Goodfellas, Terminator, Toy Story, The Big Lebowski (Awesome!!!), Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Memento HATED others: Sling Blade, Best in Show, The Royal Tenebaums, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Some on the list are just confusing as to why they're on the list: Scream, Almost Famous, Election, Borat, Brokeback Mountain. What a random and eclectic list! I highly disagree, a lot of those movies would just be a waste of your time. These are the movies you need to see before you die: The Fifth Element S natch House of Flying Daggers Zombieland The Princess Bride Up
Darc-Brittany
25... was there 100 there? o_O Didn't seem like it. Princess Mononoke is by FAR one of the best animated films of ALL TIME! So heart touching, anything that Studio Ghibli does. If you strongly believe in preserving the world and the animals of the world, you should really give it a watch. Phenomenal. Howl's Moving Castle is another amazing Ghibli film, love it!

loriam
The Princess Bride is one of the best movies of all time!!! And I don't think I saw Splash or the Labyrinth on there either. I love a lot of Miyazaki films and have to say that Mononoke Hime and Howl's Moving Castle (which is far better than the book!) are my faves. I didn't much like Ponyo, it was cute but lacked sustenance but I did like the alternative happy ending in contrast to Hans Christian Anderson's a Little Mermaid (1975) (a far better tale than Disney and little harder to find). Paprika is also a great animated movie and will blow your mind! I've seen a lot of the movies on the list but I really don't think that a lot of them should be ranked Best (blah blah)... I mean, Anchorman, while a funny movie the first time around, is just kinda forgettable but a lot of movies are forgettable for me. I just like seeing movies that aren't like any I've seen before. Like when I first saw Sin City, I had no words. Same with Planet Terror, the Girl Who Leapt Through Time (another animated favorite!), etc I guess to be fair, the title of the thread is ... of the Past 20 Years and my favorite classics are from a little further back. Take Fright Night, the Last Dragon, or Red Dawn for example. Perfect movies, brilliant. There is absolutely nothing wrong with these, they're awesome. But Hollywood is remaking them for dollar signs. Kurt Russell was THE MAN in the Thing (1986 was it?) but the remake is coming out later this year and I have a feeling that it's going blow. I don't know how this turned into a rant but I do apologize... I just woke up and am a bit grumpy.

Didn't really catch my interest too much but I have been meaning to see it.

raindog
I've seen exactly half of them. Some of the films on the list I haven't seen because they just don't interest me (Finding Nemo, Babe, Four Weddings, Sense and Sensibility, Titanic, There's Something about Mary, Avatar). Some of my favourite films are definitely missing though - Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, ******, and Rock'n'Rolla should be in there. So should Shane Meadows amazing Dead Man's Shoes and This Is England - brilliant films. Mick

kerry_lapworth
Lord of the Rings Trilogy.....best movies ever! Love The Dark Knight too,The Day Aftr Tomorrow, Memoirs of a Geisha, 300, Shutter Island.... I really dislike the 'time-filler' films we seem to get a lot of..the ones that are in between the real awesome ones. There are so few awesome films that have been out in recent years.
