  1. I have to agree with this. You just had an awful experience (I can't even imagine that and I am sorry for your loss) with your last pup...I wouldn't start pumping this one with medication from your vet. It sounds to me like your dog has separation anxiety. You're his third home. Exercising your pup is hands down the best thing you can do for him, they are a working breed and live for running. Keep this up, I do no less than 3miles a day upwards of 5-7 in the colder months. I cannot stress it enough how different your husky will be with ample exercise. Maybe even get him a weighted vest/harness to make him wear out even more. As for cooking/not liking the outside. I have two, my youngest who is going to be 3 in February loves my backyard. I cannot get her in 9/10 times but my oldest who is 6 doesn't like it much. RARELY will he go out back and lay on the stone patio...but my girl dog will lay out there for the entirety of the night if i let her. It's all a work on progress especially with a rescue and good on you for rescuing.
  2. Can you tell who is who!? Long time no talk Husky-Owners...I miss you all dearly. Odin turned 6 on Monday! He's getting to be an old man and it makes me so sad.
  3. Breathing seems fine, doesn't get winded easily but when running around and playing hard he tends to stop/hack which sets his whole mentality off. I gave it a weekish of limited howling/using his vocals and he seems to be feeling better. Vocal again but still randomly gulping/swallowing. He had a checkup within the last month or two and they checked everything then.
  4. Hey Emma!! Yeah everything from Addison's testing to endoscopy to ultra sound to xrays have been done in the past. Maybe it's the season changing and allergies? I was so relieved to have this problem go away for so long!! Odin is extremely vocal so I don't think it's him trying to copy and not being able to. One example is any time I leave the house for more than an hour and return its a husky concert between the two of them. Now it's just Ahri howling with excitement and Odin who tries to howl as he usually does, not being able to. He lets out little noises and then stops and starts doing the mouth opening/licking thing. I can't get a good video of him doing it - here is one where I play a youtube video of other sibes bickering. Both of mine love this video and it makes them go crazy. At the very start you can see what he does before he goes full howl but even his full howl sounds weak and raspy. Maybe he just has a sore throat...??
  5. Hey guys, Long time no talk - I have posted here quite a bit regarding my almost 6 year old Siberian Odin and how he gulps/licks lips/went through periods of little activity. It would subside for a bit and then come back, I took him to the vet more than I probably should have when this stuff started to happen (history is in the 2 posts I linked). They vet gave no me info, they tested him and checked him for literally everything (talking ~7 grand spent trying to diagnose this). I eventually got very frustrated and said the hell with kibble and decided to try something different which is a freeze dried dog food called Sojo. After getting Odin off kibble I saw what I considered a drastic change in his demeanor. Lately my 1.5 year old female Ahri as well as Odin have both become very picky about their food. With Sojo you mix it into some warm/hot water and let it sit for about 15 minutes before service or adding your own meat to it and then serving. They offer two types one with freeze dried meat already added or a mix that contains just the veggie/fruits your dog needs and then you pick the meat to mix in. I decided to try a new flavor for them since I like to rotate to avoid them getting sick of it.I bought the lamb (these are like $70 USD bags of food...) and both hated it. I then bought them the beef, which they've had before and enjoyed, both of them didn't want anything to do with it. Because I had just spent $140USD on dog food I decided they were going to either eat it or starve. I also had a bag of Merrick beef kibble in my cabinet because that is what Ahri was still eating when I switched Odin to Sojo. Anyways I would put the kibble and Sojo out for both of them in hopes they'd eat one or the other...and they both eventually got hungry enough that they picked at it. This went on for maybe 1-2 weeks of eating some Sojo, some kibble. Odin was mostly picking the kibble and Ahri the Sojo. Saturday after I walked the two of them we got home and I had to run out to the store. I was gone for about 2 hours and when I got home I got no greeting from Odin, they're both very vocal. When Odin went to roo at me he did a very weird tongue thing and then would put his head down. A weird minimal noise that I guess resembled a roo would come out, but it was not his full all out wolf howl. I did my best to capture his mouth thing he's been doing in the video below in hopes someone might have encountered this themselves and had a remedy for it. I switched Odin back to Sojo veggie and mixing boiled hamburger into it, I have my fingers crossed that a week back on this food and off kibble again will fix him. Any help/insight/anything is always so greatly appreciated!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So in this first video around the 15 second mark is exactly what I am talking about with his half roo. All of Saturday he was walking around depressed and that noise is the only thing he could really produce. Of course in this video he eventually gets to his all out howl but it even looks like it's hurting him to do so: This second video is the weird mouth thing Odin does when he gets excited like he is going to roo but then cannot:

    Windows 10

I am going to wait a bit to be sure that all programs/games are fully supported. I would hate to upgrade my OS and be stuck with the issues. For the people stating they hate Windows 8/8.1 - how come? Is it the tiled desktop layout vs classic start menu desktop? Only reason I ask is I actually not too long ago went from 7 -> 8 and I hated 8 with a passion at first until I discovered the app you can download to make it look and act just like the Windows of old.
  7. I have never had to use one but have walked with others who do and these absolutely work. If you have a regular harness already you can simply wrap the leash across the front of their chest and it achieves pretty much the same thing.
  8. My little girl is a puppy, maybe confusing the two? However I am not around here as often as I'd like to be so I forgive you....THIS TIME.
  9. Thanks everyone! I knew he'd look skinnier after his groom but with the new diet it got into my head especially because the healthy pet store I bought it from mentioned potential weight loss with that food. Haven't been to the vet in a few months but both Odin and Ahri are due for some vaccines so I will get him looked over while I am there. Emma - he is now 5!
  10. I sadly don't frequent the site as much as I used to or as much as I'd like to for that matter but for what it's worth I logged in today and was pleasantly surprised at the new look. I started a topic and the drag and drop picture feature is amazing! I saw some people having issues with the resolution, I use a 27" monitor that has a resolution of 2560x1440 and it looks incredibly nice. Big fan here.
  11. Odin just recently got groomed but seems rather skinny to me. He's been on a new food (Sojo veggie mixed with boiled hamburger) for a few months now and its cleared a lot of up his regurgitation issues, seems he can't digest kibble well. I'd hate to have to go back to kibble, he seems so much happier off it. We walk no less than 3 miles a day (almost always 7 days a week) so maybe he's just fit? These were taken a few minutes ago. I have no real way to weigh him so last night I weighed myself then picked him up and weighed myself again (LOL). The difference was 54lbs, he usually is around 55-56lbs. What do you guys think?
  12. Clare, you're spot on. My girlfriend just said that to me literally 2 days ago. "Ahri could be limping and you'll tell her to walk it off but if Odin looks at you wrong you're calling the vet".
  13. Good to know Rob, Odin sometimes frightens me with the amount he eats. But if he has food in his stomach it's like a snack, if he doesn't then he just vomits it up. I too walk two cows. Haha.
  14. Yeah so not too sure what noise she is making here but...LOL!! Here are some more!
