Keeping clean

I think it has something to so with their many layers of fur the dirt only sits on the top and doesn't sink in were as a normal dog only has one layer of fur so when the dirt gets on its fur there isn't another layer to protect the skin so they end up smelling. I have just read this site http://www.ehow.com/how_2066255_groom-siberian-husky.html and it says Huskies clean themselves like cats and when dirty are quick to clean up their coats, paws, faces and tails.

Just also found this site http://hubpages.com/hub/Owning-a-Siberian-Husky might be of some help.

I heard that they will lick themselves clean (almost like a cat). Every unday they will get extremely muddly an smelly and by Monday mornin they re clean again even if we haven't given them a bath. It's a good thing as it means not so many baths as bathing them too often can cause skin problems.
