Guest AllenM
Hi everyone,, looking for some advice, ideas, help!!!,, As you know we have pagan now whos is 13 weeks old, she is house trained and has been since we got her but the last few days/week she has been acting kinda strange. On 3 occasions now she has purposely gone into her crate and peed, the first 2 times we were not quite sure if she had been caught short, but the 3rd time was half an hour ago after we got back from a walk with nix and blaze, she sat and waited for me to take her collar and lead off then went straight to her crate pulled the door open with her paw went inside and took a pee, as she has full access to the garden all day long untill we crate her at night we are now puzzled as to what she is doing or trying to tell us. Please any help would be gratefully recieved,, thx in advance. Allen.

Sarah
ok at least nothing health wise by the sounds of it then - when you catch her doing it have a plastic bottle of stones or something you can rattle nearby to startle her - she will stop peeing - then take her outside and give loads of praise - she will soon learn
Guest AllenM
thx linda,, i actually caught her doing it this time so shouted no out at her and she went outside but by that time she had already done it, but i was kinda thinking along the lines of what you said and if i can catch her doing it then maybe we will get her out of the habbit. we just thought as she has only just started doing it,, she may be trying to tell us something

Sonic_Sibe
Allan Kiana did it a few times as a pup, just take her to the garden after, no need to shout and clean it up, she'll get the hang of it really quickly. Sounds silly but do you use any words for toilet, with Kiana and Ozzy we just used to say calmly, wee wees in the garden and take them out to the garden. When thety did go in the garde we'd praise them by saying good girl/boy wee wees in the garden, you know in that whiney voice we seem to put on when our pets do good. Steve Wish I'd made the meet Sunday was looking forward to see yourself, Lesley and Pagan

Ice and Cripton
When you wash it make sure you use a pet one with no amonia...stuff like bleach and other human house-hold ones smell like pee to them! Alaska did this in front of me too...just letting me know what she thought of the crate lol What your doing sounds good:)
Damrod
Puppies will be lured back to a spot that smells of urine and feces. So a quick and thorough clean up of any accidents is essential to fast puppy housebreaking. Here are some pointers for how to clean dog urine off of a carpet: 1. Absorb as much of the urine with paper towels. 2. Empty a regular drinking glass full of water over the accident spot. 3. Blot this diluted liquid until the paper towels show no signs of yellow. 4. Scrub the spot with a brush and carpet cleaner. 5. Again spray the spot with carpet cleaner and follow the cleaner's instructions for removing with a vacuum cleaner. Repeat as necessary. 6. Spray an odor eliminator (available in most local pet stores) over the spot. Follow the directions explicitly, to avoid any lingering odors. Here's how to clean dog urine (or feces) on wood surfaces. You should use caution to not cause permanent damage to your floor. 1. Clean up initially with paper towels. 2. In a bucket mix a solution of Murphy's Oil Soap and water. Using the solution clean the area thoroughly with a mop. 3. Dry with a cloth or paper towels thoroughly. 4. Spray an enzyme inhibitor (made especially to be used on wood surfaces) onto a dry rag and wipe the area. Important principles of how to clean dog urine The faster you clean up the mess, the easier it will be...and the less likely stains will set. it is important to remember that you must eliminate all odor. Even if you cannot smell it, companion animals can, and they will likely try to pee on or mark over the same area. They do that out of instinct, not spite. Follow these clean-up steps for wet or dried urine spots. Use nontoxic products that are specifically made for pet messes and pet odors. They are typically more effective, since they organically break down waste while neutralizing odors, and they are safer for homes with animals. But always check the label to be sure. There are nontoxic, inexpensive cleaning solutions you can make at home using standard ingredients such as baking soda, white vinegar and club soda. Treat stains properly to avoid permanent damage to carpets and upholstery.
