Kodiak's Mum
Here's my lovely squidgy boys! This is Emmett, who is the "Daddy" rat. He's a berkshire and is now 19 months old (so getting on a bit now). He is the full brother of Edward, who sadly passed away in March. This is Merlyn, my Champagne boy. He is now 16 months old and is very huggy :-). Riley is a Topaz Hooded. Also 16 months old. Jasper is now a black eyed white, he was originally a 'Husky' (roan) and had a lovely grey blaze, but as is want to happen with roans, his colour faded. He is 9 months old. Jacob is Jasper's full brother, he is also a Roan, but has not lost all of his colour. He was originally brown. He is also 9 months old. Cassiel is my gorgeous Agouti :-) he is named after the angel of Temperance. He is 7 months old. (I bought him on his own as all his siblings had been sold, Agouti's often look too similar to wild rats for most people's tastes). Romulus is a masked agouti, so called because of his 'agouti' coloured mask. He is 5 months old. This little man is Remus. He is a double rex, which means he has no fur except for the bit on his face. He was born as part of an 'accidental' litter (mum had not been separated quick enough), and I adopted him at 5 weeks old. He is now 4 months old and sooooooo cute!! Hehe! That's my Ratpack. Gotta love em!!

Paranormal Wolf
Lovely rats! I use to have a pet rat named Sickle. She was a white rat with a cream hood I plan to get 2 male rats soon. I noticed you have quite males and was wondering if you keep them all together. I've read that males can be kept as cage mates and usually get along fine especially if they are brothers. I've also read that they can sometimes be aggressive towards one another but the impression I got was this was rare and at times just little scuffles as puberty sets in and they establish who's dominant. I'm wanting to get males as I've read they tend to be more cuddly than the females.
Kodiak's Mum
@Paranormal Wolf. All eight of my boys live together, and as you can tell by their ages, they have been introduced at different times. I used to keep females as I actually find them to be more affectionate. I swapped to males after my last girl died last year. I have never had a problem with introductions (if they are very young like 5-6 weeks when I get them I keep them separate for a few weeks and introduce them at play times). They do have scuffles, but I've never had any all out fights. They are quite comical at times I am intending to go back to girls soon though, I am letting the boys dwindle off naturally. Al - I can sit with a Rat on each shoulder and the cat on my lap. He won't bother them :-) Nix & Gigi, my favourite is Emmett, but Romulus is a handsome boy, and he's bomb proof. Will go to anyone and loves cuddles! He loves being out of the cage and is really easy to handle :-) gonna be a biiiiig boy when he's fully grown too!! Paranormal Wolf
Thanks @Kodiak's Mum for the info. I've read a lot of info that says the males are more laid back and affectionate than the girls lol. My female I had was really tame and sweet but she was always on the go lol. I'm going to try 2 males and see if they are any different from the female I had. Either way I think rats make great pets. I've actually written a few articles on hubpages.com about keeping them as pets
Kodiak's Mum
Sadly my Topaz boy Riley passed away on Monday 3rd October. He developed a fast growing tumour under his eye and there was nothing anyone could do :'( I also no longer have Jasper or Cassiel as I have given them to my nephew, who is new to keeping rats. The reason I have done this is that my cage was full, and my nephew asked me if he got 2 rats and didn't get on with them, would I have them? Well pet shop rats are not often that well handled, and having no more room I knew they would end up on preloved, or worse, because they would be too skittish for him to handle. So he took two of my boys, who he is used to handling, to look after. That way, if he does decide that Rats are not his cup of tea, I can have them back, as I am not intending to get any more for a while now. As it stands, he is doing very well and the rats appear to be very happy. He has them out every night and is feeding them well. I see them at least once a week, and my nephew loves them, so all is good :-) and my other boys have adjusted well to the change in their numbers. Kodiak's Mum
Lol, I am not having anymore, I don't have the time I used to have for them. As nature takes it's course I will not be having any more. I am intending to just have 2 or 3 boys so that they get the stimulation that they need. It's difficult to keep an eye on 5 or 6 at once, and with the hogs and Raffy aswell I don't have as much time as a big group needs
