Ian-&-Tuk
I've come upon an opportunity to get a 9 week old female. I'm curious, could I use Tuk to help crate train her? As in when I put them in for the night could I put them both in the same crate? There would be be enough room until she got bigger. Has anyone done this and if so, how did it work out? lyra
From the brief period in which we had two dogs, definitely use separate crates. Lyra would not tolerate Dante going anywhere NEAR her crate. A crate is supposed to be a safe space for an individual dog, so there's too much risk of aggressiveness/fighting over territorial reasons. BingBlaze n Skyla
congratulations wouldnt put them in the same crate but i would put them in seperate crates side by side - as you could find yourself having problems if they are in the same crate when they want some time alone and you will probably find they will just play in the crate all night instead of sleep
Ian-&-Tuk
Tuk be territorial? yeah right lol. He's a giant ball of " let's play!" Thanks for that other aspect Nix. It might be because I just woke up but, that completely slipped my mind.
BingBlaze n Skyla
might not be territorial - but once another dog is around it CAN happen
husky princess
i wouldnt put together either (or at least for many many months when i am 100% sure all is well and they are bonded) but even then i think i would prefer them to be seperate. lynnmw1208
I agree about the separate crates. I don't have 2 dogs but Pongo definitely likes his space and will kick at us on the couch if he doesn't have enough room. I'd hate for him to do that to a puppy lol. Ian-&-Tuk
Thanks all. I guess it's time to get rid of that table in the corner that's never used for some more space lol
Alex T
Both of our dogs share 1 crate (by choice)! The crate door gets left open on a night and the stairgate to kitchen is closed. 99% of the time when I come down during the night or in the morning they are both asleep in the crate! valkyries
i have 3 crates for my 3 all side by side lol they never used them but there, there if they want to go in xxxx
Sarah
don't forget about toilet training - the pup will poop more than likely in the crate and they will both end up covered it it
Ian-&-Tuk
don't forget about toilet training - the pup will poop more than likely in the crate and they will both end up covered it it Very good point. It's no fun having to clean one of them off let alone two. Thank you everyone for your thoughts! Need to go get everything, set up her crate and then the journey to the other side of the valley to get her!
