dygosamikita
I had Sampson at the vet again today about his slightly weepy eye (nothing major just something we are monitoring). She had a look at his retina and commented that it is redder than other dogs that she has seen. My vet is very honest and puts her hands up that she has not seen many huskies. This may be something for people to keep in mind, if you have a vet tell you that your huskies retina is a bit red it may very well be that that is normal for this breed. Sampson is a blue eyed husky, not sure if the same will apply to one with different colour eyes or not. Also Sampson now has some little bumps forming on his skin in various places. These are the same colour as the skin and look a bit like a wart. Apparently these are quite normal in older dogs and nothing to worry about. Just a few tidbits to pass on in case anyone comes across something similar in the future.

Saffmonster
Thanks for that... Saffi is blue eyed but only half husky so I'm not sure how prone she would be to husky related ailments.

dygosamikita
Not sure about the bloodshot bit as I haven't really noticed this in Sampson, but as a couple have mentioned this I would hazard to say that it too might be normal. The red that the vet saw was when she was looking at his retina with the ophthalmoscope, not something that one can see with the naked eye.
