chelseafan
speaking to the behaviourist to see if Luka could handle a pup. Just wondered how many have more than 2 males and how having 3 intact males would work out. I know it’s down to temperaments but I’d appreciate any experiences anyone has. Markie
I do and it works fine just lots of training as group and individual [emoji4][emoji4]Sent from my Pixel using Husky Owners mobile app Do you have complete control over your huskies now? Because that's key they will get into dominance battles. You have to let them Duke it out of they will do it behinded your back. Just make sure you let them get the others to submit to find the boss before telling them to stop. chelseafan
Cai’s the dominant of the 2 but Luka is fear aggressive, which we’ve worked on with behavioural training. Cai and Luka are very close and Luka gets on with Toby terrier but he doesn’t like other dogs coming too close to him. So I’m a little concerned about any aggression he may show towards a 12 week old pup.Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners
Markie
Introduce the puppy to Cai first. He is the most dominant he needs to make the approval he will don't worry. Once Luka sees Cai is okay with the puppy his gear aggression toward it should go down a little bit I would think. PaulG
I had a 5 year old husky and 16 year old german shepherd who got along just fine the pecking order was my white shep girl next the old man shep and last husky helped that the husky is kind of a loner and spends most of his time off on his own
Markie
Mine order is Markie(Alpha) Maliki (calm little Beta) Tyson (calm big Beta) Winter Duke Polar Sly(puppy) Siku(puppy) I have noticed the calmer the dog the higher the ranking. It works for me hahaha [emoji23] One thing to keep in mind puppies are neutral it's when they get about a year before problems start but if they grow up together then they will do the dominance thing you let them submit then you tell them to stop. Then move on with life. [emoji4][emoji4] Sent from my Pixel using Husky Owners mobile app

chelseafan
I’ve spoken to the breeder and explained about Luka, pups are KC reg so breeder follows up on pups aftercare, with a clause that they have the pup back if it doesn’t work out, regardless of age, not my intention to do that, but they are serious about pups going to the right home. I’m seeing the behaviourist first and then we’ll go from there. [emoji3]Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners

chelseafan
Decision made, no pup at this time.My partner took them both for a walk to his daughters and they have a jack Russell, not well socialised and doesn’t seem to like my 2, anyway to cut a long story short, phil kept them both at a distance, the J.Russell was growling and snarling at Cai, went to bite his leg and Luka went for him, phil pulled him back so no injury but it took a while to calm Luka down. Phil did ask for the dog to be kept inside but the bloody thing jumped over the half door. What is it with little dogs!!!!If I consider another dog, it won’t be until I feel Luka could handle it and then it’d prob be a rescue, not a puppy. Time for more work with Luka not on another pup.Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners
Markie
Have you tried Luka with husky puppies. It might sound insignificant but I have learned huskies except other huskies better then other dogs it's like they can smell it. chelseafan
He was ok with a female the other night, both were on lead but tonight he wasn’t so friendly to a male, he’s just too unpredictable. I’m even thinking that he might need muzzling on a walk in a town or city, he absolutely hates peoples hands coming towards him over his head, he growls, he doesn’t want anyone else touching him but family. If people don’t stroke him he doesn’t bother growling, but people can be unpredictable to, I say not the grey when they ask can they stroke them both, but some try to anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners Yes I understand that. Huskies are good at getting out of muzzles so that would be the only thing to watch [emoji4] People just think they can do whatever they want. It's very weird how people don't listen to the dogs owners. I have my huskies ask if a person can pet them. They look at me then at the owner or paw at the ground toward them. Then I make the people ask. Maliki isn't very found of people just walking over to her and petting her so I had to train the dogs. Luka sounds like he is easy to train. He wouldn't see a husky puppy in the same light as other puppies I don't believe that could just be mine. I would call the breeder and schedule a play date to see how it goes. The go from there [emoji2][emoji4]Sent from my Pixel using Husky Owners mobile app

I/ve muzzled Aris recently for the same reason. We live in big building in crowded area and I don/t want to risk a bite, or even to scare some child. He doesn/t growl all the time at all strangers, just I havent figured out why and at whom he growls. I am working on that. Now, I am relaxed in walks and when people see muzzle they say "oh, aggressive dog" and dont bother him. Who knows how to approach a dog, they know how to be friends with him. Aris accepted muzzle right away because he always gets treats and we go for a walk and have fun with muzzle. I am very very sorry that you are not getting that puppy. He is adorable. But I completely understand how you feel. I am sure , soon you will be ready for new dog/puppy since Luka is doing so well
chelseafan
I agree for the safety factor, the sad thing is Luka is a softie, very loving to us, it’s just being stroked by strangers. It’s good Aris has taken to the muzzle so easily, and it’s so important for you to be relaxed on the walks because Aris will sense that to. Hope you work it out [emoji3]Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners
