Brooke's dog show day out.

We went to the local dog fair and summer fete today and after a lot of deliberation we decided that it was far too hot for the husky butts to come with, so we decided to bring Brooke our little old Staffy for a day out with us instead.

She's 11 years old and a bit deaf but very well behaved, so we didn't have to worry about her leaping on random people at the fair.:redface1:

Always a bonus, lol

We've never entered a dog show before but thought that for £2.50 entry we'd give her a shot at the child handling category, being handled by our 8 year old son Reece.

Well, she went where she was supposed to do and didn't really pull him anywhere but Reece did struggle a bit to direct her across the field and back in a diagonal direction as she spotted someone in the crowd who she took a liking to! Sadly they didn't win anything today (Reece got sad as the man pointed to the teenager next to him and Reece thought that he was pointing to him at first) but a great time was had by all.

In hindsight I'm very glad we didn't enter Bear in the show as the first part of the competition involved the judge grabbing and feeling the dogs all over their back, side, and stomach. Bear does not tolerate her tummy being grabbed and will growl at you to show her fear of this action. Also a blessing is that I couldn't enter Ice, as when he gets over excited he likes to jump and grab a bit of your bottom if you're out on a walk with him and standing in front. never seen him do it to a stranger but would be soooo embarrasing if when parading around the arena he decided that the ladies rear end in front looked too juicy to resist!

Here's a couple of pictures of Brooke having a chill out in the shade.

Thank you, we are proud of them both. Brooke is very gentle with Reece, which is why we trusted them to enter the show. Yes Rosemary, Brooke was very pleased to be the centre of attention again. Since the husky pups burst on to the scene she does appear to feel a bit left out at times. When we rescued Bear from being thrown out of a van she was a nervous wreck. Oh was pretty shaken up too as he nearly ran her over! It was Brooke who took her under her wing and smothered her like she was her mummy. This lasted about 3 months until Bear towered over her! Lol.

aww Brooke is gorgeous ' date=' shame they didnt win anything :([/quote']

Actually Reece did! Not the dog show but that's fine, it was only for a laugh. Not too fussed tbh but we got a phone call earlier on to say Reece had won the "guess the no of balloons in the car" competition! He got a £5 w h smiths card, he's chuffed to bits! Lol.

I was hoping for the car but nevermind!
