ericrdj
Ok so... Obi's having this food rush all the time. He gulps the food so fast. I always wait for him to calm down but it doesn't look like it does much. What I do now is I give her a piece of kibble until his meal is done. that way he'll know that he'll need to chew his food. I'm thinking I'll need around three weeks to a month before I can fix it with that method. any of you guys got any other ideas?
Sid_Wolf
You can get special bowls for quick eaters, cant remember what they're called, like these: http://www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp?dept_id=159&pf_id=53908 Sure you can get them over there too. Or if the kibble is small you could give it in a kong or treat ball??
lyra
I've also heard of spreading the kibble out on the floor or in a cookie sheet so they have to go slower.
ericrdj
what's a cookie sheet? thanks sid. I really can't give Obi's food one piece at a time. it's really time consuming for me as i still have some work. we have a kong wobbler hear. but Obi kinda got smart enough to get the treats out as fast. :/
lyra
A cookie sheet is the type of baking pan you bake cookies on... Ideally it would be one with sides to contain the kibble, like this: http://ecx.images-am...4113YY1R9JL.jpg I'm constantly fascinated by all the words people use on this forum, being that I'm from the US. Damrod
They also make balls that you can put in the dog bowl to slow them down. http://www.ehow.com/how_5093138_stop-dog-eating-fast.html
ericrdj
hmmm... does spreading a trail of food help? because he might just pick up, gulp. pick up, gulp. XD
Sqwidge
my trainer used to tell us to sprinkle the kibble over the grass in the garden, kills 2 birds with one stone - makes them work for their dinner and they don't gulp it down! my sister also used to put a tennis ball in the bowl - but her dog used to just take it out - other thing is find some large pebbles that are a bit harder to take out! ericrdj
I tried the ball in the bowl and obi just rolled it out. lol. I did a rock in bowl as well but Im sort of concerned with it. Food in the grass. sounds like a plan. Thanks sqwidge!
