Jo
Just a heads up My sister who works in animal health had a meeting with European worming specialist It is now said you should worm your dogs every month not 3 months There is increased concern due to pet passports and travelling carcasses - we need to protect our fur babies!! Rachael_Astro
Ahh really! I had to argue with the receptionist at my vet to give me worming tablets every 3 months instead of 6, think I would have a task asking for every month haha!Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners
loudlucky
I do every 3 months as recommended here, but most people here cannot even bother to do it once a year...Sent from my ALE-L21 using Husky Owners mobile app
Jo
My sister has worked in animal health for many years and she meets lots of vets and goes to many talks from leading experts, I feel lucky to have this font of knowledge from her, which I am happy to pass on! She does have an uphill battle trying to get vets to take new ideas and research on board.I honestly dont think its just the big animal drug companies trying to get us to spend more! Emma
Did she say why the recommendations were changing? Are the worming products less effective than before such as when frontline flea treatment reduced their active ingredient quantity making it OTC rather than prescription strength. Jo
Fleas were getting immune to frontline and stronghold I think, I use milbemax now its palatable tabletShe just said the concerns were because of more travelling pets and imported carcasses poss carrying parasitesI will ask her more when I see her - keep you posted Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners

CocoStorm
My 2 fur kids are on monthly. Once Storm hits 6 month old, I am switching to her older shiba inu sis Interceptor that protect against heart worm too. We have lots of mosquito here.Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners
chelseafan
Cai was at the vets on mon for his booster and I asked the vet if I need to change from 3 monthly worming to monthly and she said the monthly recommendation is for lungworm, she said they could still stay on 3 monthly and then do monthly for the missed months.Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners
