Chewbacca_&_me
In light of My experience with the people last night and someone elses experience with a potential new owner, I have to ask... Why is it that people seem to/expect a puppy to be absolutely perfect and/or well trained when they get them? After thinking about my meeting with the lady yesterday, it dawned on me last night that what they were expecting to get a perfect and comp- letely trained dog so they wouldnt have to do any work themselves. How can anyone expect this?

Mazz
That's what causes so many Huskies to end up in rescue. People just have a pre-conceived idea of what they "want" (expectation), with no thought to what they are going to "get" (reality). Sad. Chewbacca_&_me
Its just so rediculous to expect that any young pup is going to be perfect when you get them. I have never met a pup who was already potty trained or perfectly socialized/trained when I first brought them home, it seems that no one knows that the word... Puppy means....Baby, adolesent or young dog!

SarahNukka&Shadow
I dont get people who dont WANT to do all that stuff!! Thats the best part of getting a puppy! That YOU get to spend loads of time with him or her training and moulding the pup into the perfect companion for you! There is nothing in the world so satisfying as telling your pup to sit and him or her sitting because you taught him or her to do that and then having people be impressed with how well behaved your pup is! It makes me glow inside to go to training classes with my girl and have her be held up as the example of a well trained pup!
Chewbacca_&_me
That is exactly how i feel about it, It gives me a sense of pride and joy. There is nothing like knowing that your dog loves you, and that they are happy to do what you teach them. What if you do get a pup that is fully trained (it would be very unusual) and then you realize that the way they are trained is not good for you and the family...? Then it seems that it would be even harder to enjoy the puppy, because they will be confused and uncomfortable. Wouldnt that be worse?
