Dog Friendly places/areas

Put this on suggestion board few days ago and hopefully once it gets going Marc will be able to make it into a dictionary type thing.

I though that when alot of us go away or want to go out, some of us like to bring our dogs with us. So I thought we could get something going about different places which are dog friendly. Places like:

Pubs and Restraunts

Camping and caravan sites

Holiday homes

nature reserves (not all of them allow dogs)

Parks/Moors

Beaches

Forests

and anything else you can think about. To help people find out more information about the place we could maybe add reviews and where the place is or add a link to the webpage if the place has one.

I will start us off with this place:

Self Catering Holiday in Pwllheli, North Wales

This was where I took Jamie for his birthday (Before we had huskies) and we took my mums dog with us. Booked it through Welcome Cottages which is best to phone them to book than online. It was a bit on the pricey side but Jamie always wanted to stay in a log cabin so I though 'f*** it' I'll use some claim money I had through from a poor holiday we had to go here.

The couple which own the area are very friendly and always around if you need help. Not all the cabins allow dogs but if you follow the link then you can see the exact one which we stayed in. Nice and tucked away from noise. The site is in the middle of nowhere so sat nav would be needed! About 1hr from snowdonia and about 10 mins from the nearest food store.

Here is the link for the cabin where we stayed:

They also do holiday homes abroad aswell.

Wareham Forest, Wareham, Dorset

Fabulous area. Is a shame that most of the tree have been cut down so it is not as dense woodland as it used to be. Take my boys here occasionally but don't let them off lead as there are deer and loads of rabbits, etc.

Also, there are occasional working sled dog rally's held here which are fun to watch. We went to one which was on over the weekend between Christmas and New Year (see pic below).

The New Forest

Another great area to take your dogs for a walk. Brilliant area, nice and quiet. Giving this link wher you can find places around the New Forest to stay, eat, etc. Where it is such a big area, you will find that you dont see alot of other people about which can make it a relaxing area to go for a picnic as well. Not a good place to let them off the lead. We used to but since Gizmo ran off after a horse, we dont let them off here.

  • 2 weeks later...

we r going the 9th of may, we had to book it to fit in with my sons gcse exams, n couldnt afford high season, just hope the weathers ok lol, we checked out the local area and theres some stuff for grown ups and kids, theres a few castles, some decent walks, an air port that does pleasure flights over snowdonia, a slate meuseum, an adventure place where they do kartin , archery and quads etc, a forest place that has a fair in it etc, a bit like a maize maze for those who have been and dogs are allowed on leads, so fingers crossed it should be good fun for dogs , sprogs and us adults lol
