~*Shell*~
I just posted these in the health/training thread but thought I should probably put these up here. This is me working with Zero on all of his tricks. Training: heel, wait, formal retrieval (sit at heel, throw dumbbell, and "take" so he'll retrieve it then "give" to i can take the dumbbell from him), finish, drop, come, automatic sit, stand, stay, sit, come to heel, left about turn. Tricks:back, sit, wait, hi 5, wave, rock on, shake, paw, down, beg, stand, spin, heel, circles, stay, come to heel, touch and dance. Formal retrieval (for obedience trialling): Enjoy! Ice and Cripton
awesome, addeed to rep .. hes very cute and well trained lol Did you have to go to classes?
~*Shell*~
I didn't have to go to classes and taught him all of the commands at home - we do go to group obedience though because Zero used to be very very dog aggressive (he's not anymore) so on-leash socialisation is healthy for him since he's an only dog at the moment. It gave me motivation to train with him more too - someone checks up on you weekly when you go to class! We're at the stage where i could pull him out of group obedience because it's not really helping him but he likes hanging out with the other dogs so i'll keep taking him. And you can show all the know it all instructors with their BCs/goldies/kelpies/labs etc that Spitz breeds are in fact highly trainable
~*Shell*~
True true!! Can't wait till the lecture with "the best trainer in australia" - she refuses to train huskies and malamutes because they're not trainable to a CCD level. Anyone who refuses to train a breed isn't a good trainer in my book.
Bec
I can't wait to hear what "the guru" has to say about Zero, Shell

That's a great start, Mary Where you want to start is really up to you and depends on what you want to do with Grey. Clicker training can be fun and useful for teaching tricks and marking behaviour you like, I know Shell uses a clicker when she's teaching Zero Is there anything you want to train him to do? It might be worth investigating if you have any basic obedience clubs near you that you can pop along to as well.

I am going to start by trying a class after the summer and see how Grey takes to that and learn some tricks of the trade and start training at home. Im not wanting him to perform a circus act but would like him to have a bit more obedience maybe?? I will look into that ckicker smeagle:) thanks
