Hi guys, I thought i'd update everyone on the developments of this post (wow over a year now.)
We initially took the girl to a vet for an examination and the vet said she was perfectly healthy. They did a physical examination of her limbs and hips but she was pretty non-responsive (she is so placid by nature). So we decided to leave it a few more months.
ITs was probably March / April 2013 that we noticed a substantial downturn to her gait and she was continually limping, particularly after exercise. So we took her for a third examination and this time she even had a scan which still gave no indication that anything was wrong. Anyway, we ended up taking her to a specialist clinic (super expensive) who diagnosed that she had a torn cruciate ligament. Positively, no permanent damage had occurred and we had caught it at an early stage in order for her to increase her chances of full recovery.
We were given 3 options for her rehabilitation:
1.) Ongoing physio
2.) Surgery
3.) Specialist biomechanical surgery where they insert a metal joint on her knee joint, followed by an exercise and physio treatment
The third option was obviously super expensive but higher chances of a full recovery, so we went with the third option.
6 Months later, she is now fully recovered and can fully sprint, jump into the Ute back and she is super playful again with her brother.
It has been a long drawn out and expensive process, but we are happy she is back to full health again.
We are now planning to take them both on a 12-18 month trip around Australia.
I will try and dig out the documentation again and post the official diagnosis of what was wrong. I can't remember exactly what it was called.
