Emma
Caught on camera: Stealthy suspect creeps away (Picture: Central News)When a BBC Springwatch presenter set up a camera in a back garden, he was hoping to capture scenes of nocturnal urban wildlife… a rare bird or foraging badger, perhaps. Instead, Simon King’s footage revealed a less welcome nighttime prowler – this easily-spotted burglar. The intruder is being sought over a break-in at a home in Herne Hill, south London, after the sensor-activated camera at the house next door caught him scaling a fence. The sight of his alarmed face may be less appealing to viewers than images of startled deer or rabbits. But Mr King may soon be getting a Crimewatch credit to add to his CV. He tweeted police were ‘delighted’ with the images he found after noticing the camera, set up as a ‘fox cam’, had been triggered. The burglar is thought to have fled empty-handed after being disturbed during the raid at 3.45am on January 12. Perhaps he’ll need to find some deep undergrowth to hide in. * copied and pasted from metro.co.uk.
