shiba inu

Recommended Posts

Shibas get on really well with Huskies. Beware though, they are just as bad (if not worse) than huskies off lead and as escape artists. Not only do they go "deaf" when you want them to come back to you, but they are more aloof than huskies and much less dependent upon people.

They are also very tough little devils. A Shiba escaped its owner in Battersea Park some years ago and it lived there wild for almost a year before it was caught - hunting its own food. When it was finally caught it was sleek, fit and in fantastic condition. We've had Shibas as companions to our Sibes for 16 years - brilliant little dogs (who think they are brilliant BIG DOGS).

Had to go wandering on the net and the National Shiba Club of America has an excellent site about the breed.

Whoever wrote their "An Introduction to the Shiba Inu" definitely had a good sense of humour as he was passing along some excellent information:

If your puppy chews the straps off your favorite sandals it will make you very angry, but don't take it out on him. It was your fault for leaving the sandals where the puppy could reach them. Dogs don't make mistakes, people do.

They sounds like a wound up Husky in somewhat smaller size!!!
