Meet the Hounds

Recommended Posts

I mentioned in the Sutton Park meet thread that our pup isn't a pure Sibe, Huskamute or Alusky is probably the best description although overgrown fool is far more accurate! Whatever you want to call him, we love him to bits all the same, even though he does weigh as much as a teenager (91lb at the last count following a diet from 106lb) and insists on being a lapdog! Because of his gentle cuddly nature and an innate tendancy to get himself covered in muck we tend to refer to him as Pooh, after Winnie the Pooh:doglick:

The other half of our doggy duo is Thunder, a GSD bitch and retired pub guard dog. Thunder lives up to her name, she's completely insane! Unfortunately she was never properly socialised with other dogs until we took her in, so she's never really known how to behave around other dogs; and following last years accident she has become very aggressive towards them. Early last year she got away from her leash chasing after a pheasant and compressed the vertibrae in her neck by running full pelt into a tree stump, paralysing her front paws. Quite how she survived is beyond just about anyone, yet she's managed to beat the odds as we taught her to walk again rather than to put her to sleep on the vets initial advice due to her advancing age. 18 months on and she can take short walks along the canal and even chase after thrown toys, but the days of several hour long treks are definately behind her.
