Adders In Kent.

Paul (hubby) was working in Kent yesterday (bearsted) and was chatting to someone who's dog was bitten by an adder relatively recently.

As all uk peeps should already know, adders are the uks most well known and possibly only? venomous snake and back in the 70s and 80s they were quite prolific in our area, however these days you don't see very many as urban sprawl from central London has filtered out a lot of the green belt area they lived in.

Apparently the further out into Kent you get, the more abundant they become.

So if you're venturing out that way in the woodland, be careful! The dog survived but it was a pretty close call.

Exactly what I thought. Let's face it, if your dog was to become sick, a snake bite would be the last thing you'd think of! This was what happened to the lab. He stuck his head in a bush and then sat down, they thought he'd hurt his paw on something as he didn't want to stand up. Eventually he walked home and laid down. His nose swelled, then his head swelled and they spotted two pinpricks on his muzzle and recognised them as snake bites (not sure if I would of). They rushed him to the vets and he was treated and is fine now. Thankfully. Makes you think though.
