Saiye
Hello! My 2 year old Husky, Jukka, has been diagnosed with ZRD. He is 52 lbs, and eats Avoderm Chicken and Brown Rice Formula. I started giving him zinc gluconate 4 days ago. I have been giving him 50-100 mg every 12 hours 1-2 before or after a meal as prescribed by the vet. He has seemed fine until today, when he vomited both times I gave it to him. In the morning I gave it to him on an empty stomach and 30 minutes later he vomited and the same thing in the evening on a semi-full stomach. I am trying to figure out what would be the best method for treating this. The vet said zinc methionine may go easier on the stomach, though I am having trouble finding it. Should I go that route and try another zinc supplement? Should I give him fish oils? Should I introduce fish and kelp into his diet? Should I change his food? Is there a combination of things that would work best for him? I am also concerned of a zinc overdose. Anyone who has dealt with this please respond with what method worked for you! My poor Jukkie is falling apart here! 8( Thank you!!!!!
