  1. We went to the vet and it ended up being a bacteria infection in her stomach and intestines. A couple meds and hopefully in a couple days all will be well! Man does she seem under the weather though... Keep ya posted!
  2. She was already apparently a couple weeks ago, but not by a vet so I have no idea what they used. This is turning into kinda a runaround trying to figure out what the breeders have given them and what they havent. But the trip to the vet will hopefully get everything sorted out tomorrow.
  3. I will have to go home and check the food. Before I got it I had a run through on what to look for. Ill post the name of it as soon as I get home though. I was just going to go purchase dewormer but I thought I would let the professionals handle it... with advice from you also. Thank you!
  4. She is going to the vet tomorrow! When I first got her she ate well, drank lots but had the squirts. Now about a week later she is really timid, will not eat or drink, and puked twice last night. I was sleeping in the bed beside her kennel and could hear her stomach growling like crazy. Then she puked; it was a white foamy puke with nothing in it at all... almost like water. I went out last night after she did her thing in the back yard and took a look for worms... sure enough there was a single white worm about 3 inches long sitting beside her stool, it was dead though. Nothing else out of the ordinary though, just no energy, seems really timid. Any ideas of what I may be up against tomorrow??
  5. Well if I don't have the breeder for advice I have you guys to answer the thousand questions I will probably have! The breeder (Kyle) seems pretty good. I sent him an email on my concerns and I had three messages on my phone the next day so I called him back and he gave me the run through on what shots the puppy has. I just need to get her dewormed. Shes adapting great to her new home though. She is playing regularily with the Lab cross that is also at the house. She is eating well and seems very active outdoors still (not so much in the house but im sure she will come around). I am just trying to get her to use the bathroom in "her" part of the yard so she will only use that part of the yard. But she wakes me up every morning faithfully between 4 and 5 am to go outside. No problems so far!
  6. Thanks everyone for the feedback! Well I am happy to say that the puppy is doing well today. First thing this morning I took her out to her spot in the back yard on her leash and she did her buisness. I understand all the concerns about the Wolf in her. Her mother is Malamute-Husky and her dad is a Husky-Wolf. I still believe she can be trained though, like I said I am not one for giving up. So far she has had no accidents. She is very energetic when out in the yard, absolutely hates her leash so far and will not budge when I try to walk her. She loves cruising in the Jeep. But she is very timid in the house and kennel. I heard her howling today because I left her alone in the kennel which was kind of neat sounding. Thats pretty much it so far for the update! I will have to find out exactly what shots she has been given, but I trust the breeder (I work with his wife) and they seem very knowledgeable. She is also eating and drinking more now... thats about it for the time beeing! O and I have lots of pictures! Just not with me at work... ill get them on here soon!
  7. Update... She still hasn't wen't to the bathroom, neither pee or poop. Other than stress what could be a possible cause of this?
  8. Im close enough that the guy that I got it from is going to help me train her for sled pulling, and take her out there for exercise whenever I want. They have 5 of em that are yard/ house dogs and 40+ of them for sled dogs. He seems incredibly experienced when it comes to training and taking care of these dogs. Im going to take her out there to start her obedience when she starts getting used to the house and yard. I told him of my concerns, and he said he would help/ teach me to get her trained properly. Also I have been on here lots. I understand it will be a challenge, but I am incredibly patient and persistant.
  9. Well we picked up Niko today. Husky Malamute wolf cross. Ill keep you posted on it as well as any questions that I have. She seems to be doing well. Hasn't used the bathroom yet and its been 7 hours but im assuming its the stress from being outside in the kennel to the house... Seems to be a great little dog so far! I only spent 3 hours with her today, and the girlfriend is spending time with her while im at work.
  10. Well ill keep you guys posted for sure! I always liked Huskies but knew absolutely nothing about them until recently. So im learning more and more every day. Not getting scared off by them in any way though so thats definately a good thing. Love the fact that they fit my lifestyle so well. I will look for actual Syberian Huskies, but I don't care of they are papered or not and im still not ready to give up on these Alaskans just yet... still want to go take a look.
  11. I don't know much about the breeders aside from the fact that they own a dog sled company here in alberta. They have many huskies that they use for dog sled competitions. I emailed them regarding the breed and asked for any information that they can come up with for me before I get my pup, and I also asked about the parents. I guess I will have to see! I don't know how long they have been into the sport, or how well they take care of their dogs, just assuming if they compete in racing though that they must take pretty good care! I still have 2 weeks before I make my decision though so I can ask away. Thanks for the replies though!
  12. Well I searched some more and found that they could be anything really. I just really want them to act like Husky's and know how much husky is in these pups roughly. Just by looks if someone could roughly tell me. My untrained eye says they look like Huskies!
  13. Ive searched for this topic and found out that they are basically mutts?? Is this correct. I was looking to buy a Siberian Husky originally but have found some Alaskan Huskies in the area that I may be interested in. I researched a lot about the Siberian Husky and would like any feedback from anyone who owns what they are calling an Alaskan Husky. This is a link to the ones I am interested in: http://reddeer.kijiji.ca/c-pets-dogs-puppies-for-sale-Beautiful-Alaskan-Husky-Puppies-For-Sale-W0QQAdIdZ162034591 Is anyone here able to tell me what they look like they are bread with maybe? I will be contacting the owners on Monday and going to look at them. Thank you, any and all advice or info on these would be appreciated.
