CTown81
Hello I own a 8 mo. old female Siberian Husky. She seems to be losing hair on the side of her snout in two small patches. This does not seem to be apart of her normal shedding pattern. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening or if I should be concerned? Bec
What sort of food do you feed her? Does she ever get itchy or have red skin?
Anne
Hi Rich ,is the patch skin bright red ?
siberian_wolf
It could one of many possibilities. We would need some more details about it first. My suggestion would be to take her over to see the vet. Do you use any head restaints (i.e. Halti or muzzle) on her? It may have rubber her nose Is she treated for fleas/ticks and wormed regulary? she may have picked up fleas Has anything been spilt on her nose (i.e. hot water)? May have burned the skin Have you used any creams on her? She may be allergic to the cream used Have you washed her and used shampoo? If the shampoo wasn't washed off completely, this can cause skin irritation

raindog
If there is soreness/redness associated with the hair loss, it might be Zinc deficiency which is reasonably common in sibes. Your vet can do a skin scraping which would help them isolate the cause. Mick
Anne
Thats what I thought with the redness around the muzzle ,Kira had it for ages just got it cleared up past couple of month ,as Mick says its common for sibes to get ZD your vet wll confirm , http://www.siberianhuskyhealthfoundation.org/health_zincdeficiency.asp
Smithy
Our Smithy had this when he was a pup. We took him to the vets and they did a scraping (they did seem concerned) but thankfully they found nothing and it cleared up by itself, so I would recommend a trip to the vets to make sure...
