The great thing about dogs trust is they're there for the dogs 100% even after adoption if u need them they're there and offer training too , me and my partner decided to get a dog when we moved in together we reserved this gorgeous collie cross but when I met him (my boyfriend met him first i was working) i just didn't click n felt he wasn't the right dog for us , I felt so guilty about it BUT it was better for the dog to find a home more confident in the needs he had , sometimes things don't work out n it's sad but it is no one's fault n now the dog has a chance to find something even better even if that's heartbreaking to admit

I think I need to clear this contentious point.

When I first met Manny at the DogsTrust I wasn’t allowed to handle Manny for obvious reasons, all I was allowed to do was walk alongside Manny and one of the trust behaviourists to see how Manny might react to me, all these walks took place outside in the trusts enclosed paddocks.

I wasn’t allowed into Manny’s Kennel again for obvious reasons given Manny’s past and the biting incidents, even when I was allowed to walk Manny, Manny was already on the lead, so my close contact with Manny was eliminated.

My time at the DogsTrust with Manny kept both of us apart with the exception of the paddock walks, so any allergy flare to Manny was not evedient at this time.

Even the day I collected Manny it was only on the long drive home that I started with a throat tickle of which I get when I come into contact with some cats and the odd horse, that said, Manny had just started blowing his coat and the car interior was full of hair by the time we reached home, so simply put my throat tickle down to the amount of hair in the car in such a confined space.

After the first 24hrs of the 5 days I had Manny, no respiratory allergy flared only the slight itching between my fingers, I hadn’t experienced this itching before, it was the second night that I experienced a slight respiratory reaction during my nights sleep, and yes Manny had taken it upon himself to make my bed his bed, so once again I couldn’t be absolutely sure it was Manny’s hair, however the more hair that took over my house, the more I became aware that Manny’s hair was indeed causing me to have an allergy reaction.

Yes I have a Dyson animal vacuum cleaner, and used it often to try eliminate as much hair as possible, yet when I settled for my nights sleep, my allergy flared as a respiratory issue, nothing to severe nevertheless still apparent.

Before making what might have been a hasty uneducated decision to return Manny, and May I say I cried lots as this was in no means an easy decision, I did speak to lots of people including vets some of which are personal friends, I even spoke to my doctor too, and the general consensus was I must be allergic to Manny’s hair, so I had no choice but to return Manny.

Now this is where the story might have a twist, one of my friends owns a filtration specialist company, he heard about my issue and contacted me, long story short, he designs and manufactures medical filtration for a whole host of respiratory conditions, I am a design engineering consultant and between us we believe we can overcome the problem with Manny and the hair allergy issue.

So yesterday 5th December I and my partner emptied my entire house, yes the whole house, carpets etc etc etc, we thoroughly cleaned everything while this was going on, my friend calculated the necessarily CFM and set about designing and manufacturing a bespoke fiktration unit for my house, this was after contacting the DogsTrust and explains everything you’ve read so far, Manny’s hair might not be the issue I first thought.

The DogsTrust have said if the filtration unit is a success after a couple of days, and nobody comes forth to offer Manny his forever home, then Manny will return to me and his fresh clean forever home, so fingers crossed, I have done all I can in order to reverse my return decision for Manny based on uneducated understanding of pollen cross contamination in pets.

You really didn’t need to explain, fora can be easy, happy places or they can have members who can’t see anyone else's point of view which can lead to some verbal sparring and sometimes unpleasantness, you either ride with it or you leave them to it. I am in a forum where someone took exception to an entirely innocent remark which led to sides being taken, abuse being hurled, calls for expulsion and several members took umbrage and left. Despite giving a full explanation of what I had meant (which part of me felt was totally unnecessary) I was still the dark presence in some members' view although some were supportive. I considered leaving but I really liked some of the other people in there so I stuck it out. As is the way of these things the numbers dwindled (it was set up for a specific reason which eventually was resolved) so there are only a few of us now but we all get on and accept that we aren’t always going to agree. Phew, that was a bit long winded!

Anyway I can see that you are genuine and admire you for being prepared to work towards a solution, being big enough to admit there was a problem and for wanting to do what you set out to do, giving a dog a chance of a decent, loving home and yourself a loyal friend. Your commitment is evident to me and I truly hope you and Manny can make it work [emoji4]

I apologise for accusing you of not telling the truth regarding your allergies. It didn't make sense that they wouldn't let you pet him and touch him the entire time you were there to visit and get to know him. Huskies are usually very friendly. It saddens me that they feared he would bite you. His past must have been something to turn a husky to bite like that or have the potential to bite. I could never walk a dog and not get to cuddle them and tell them what a good job they did at the end.  Plus they enjoy the affection. Mine are extremely affectionate towards me. Always wanting attention and pawing for more. You are going above and beyond what anyone would do considering your allergy symptoms you described. I am not so sure it is a wise decision. But be careful and have an emergency number on hand just in case. Good luck with Manny.

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen firstly; thank you so very much from the very bottom of my heart for all your kind words and support, since I cleared up the contentious point about my allergy to Manny and his return, I have worked tirelessly on solutions for my home and myself, so far so good, furthermore, today 7th December I have had a long in depth conversation with all concerned at the DogsTrust, given my dedication to do all I can for the possible return of Manny to my home, Manny has once again been reserved for me and if all goes well between now and Saturday 9th December then Manny will return to his forever home early next week, so with everything crossed and my home now like a brand new home with clean fresh air filtered in and around my home, my home even feels fresh and clean, talk about a deep Spring clean, it's also a great feeling when you sort through cupboard clutter that you keep for absolutely no reason, I now have so much spare cupboard room it's much easier to find just what your looking for, LOL

The filtered air system sounds very interesting. I have an asthmatic daughter who I’m sure would benefit from such a system, is it available commercially?

There are two answers, yes a commercial unit is available and used in hospitals and probably very costly too, what I and my friends who have a filtration specialist company did was, create a bespoke unit, we took the basic principle of the Dyson HEPA filter as found in the animal series of vacuum cleaners, the principle of extraction filtration, recerculation and wet filtration, we draw ambient air from outside, pass this through a cyclone unit, through the various filtration mediums, lastly pushing the air through the wet filtration which traps any remaining suspended particles and stops the air from being dry, like the very dry air which you experience in shopping centres/malls for our American friends, still experimental at this stage, but seems to be doing exactly what we want.

Great news, so pleased for you! Looking forward to some pics [emoji3]
My other half cleaned his man shed out a few months ago, he said he was getting rid of loads of stuff, he spent 4 hours moving everything around and the rubbish he got rid of consisted of 2 carrier bags! That was his idea of a spring clean, but he did feel good about it.

Almost, tomorrow 9th December is the day that I contact the DogsTrust with my results of how successful the filtration is at keeping me allergy free, and to be honest since I bottomed my home, removed all furniture fixtures and fitting, cleaned top to bottom like never before, installed the filtration, my home has never been or indeed felt so fresh, it’s like having the fresh country air without the countryside smell only indoors, even my sleeping has improved, I’m impressed with everything I/we have achieved, just a case of keeping on top of the vacuuming and general cleaning etc.

With the results being so positive, Manny will return to my home early next week.

Vacuuming is a big one I have to vacuum my house twice a day sometimes three. [emoji4] That's a very good smell it's also a plus that your sleeping has improved. It's amazing what cleaning can do. [emoji4] The clean house has captured the country smell [emoji4][emoji4]

Great news Manny will come back to you early next week [emoji16]

Allergy free is an absolute positive 🤗

I'm so happy for you 🤗🤗[emoji2][emoji2]

Yes my 2 have their own page, if you put hashtags such as #huskiesofinstagram, #huskygram, #rescuedog that tends to work a bit

Update: last Thursday 7th December the DogsTrust manager spoke with me, we discussed everything about Manny and the lengths I have gone to in order to hopefully welcome Manny back into my home, I was asked to call the DogsTrust just after lunch today Saturday 9th December for the centre to make the final decision.

Having spoken to the centre I have been informed the manager is not in today and should be back in one day next week, so I have to wait patiently now, not knowing one way or another, until I get that call and decision I can do no more.
