9 Week old Siberian Husky puppy

I'm having a lot of problems with my puppy husky. We got her around 2 weeks. The first week, she was an amazing puppy. Very cuddle and friendly. The second week, the biting started happening. It's very rough and painful and breaks skin. I've looked through so much on google, the yelping, redirecting and ignoring doesn't work. I even hired a professional trainer who just gave us a choker and told us to muzzle her with our hands. I read online that both of those are inefficient ways of teaching a puppy to stop biting. I understand she's in her teething phase, but she bites and bites HARD. Is there anything I can do to control her? Maybe look for another trainer? I don't want to get rid of her, because I love the dog and think that besides the biting she has a lot of wonderful traits. Does it get better? The trainer said at around 3-4 months it stops.

It does get better. I recommend keeping teething toys at hand and getting carrots and freezing them. They do grow out of it. I would not muzzle the puppy not a good way to start only nine weeks old. They do bite hard but they don't know they are. At about four months you will start seeing their teeth they are losing falling out puppy teeth then it slowly goes down from there. I would also suggest training your own husky it a great way to bond and you being it's Alpha is the best thing for it. :-) Just keep teething toys on hand always tell she is out of the phase :-):-)

Choker collars aren't good either they get Tangled in their fur and that just causes all sorts of problems. I suggest buying a harness :-)

That sounds like an awful trainer! Do not use the choker they are horrible things and inflicting pain is no way to train a dog. Also it can take longer than 4 months to stop the biting but it will get better, so it definitely isn't going to get better in 2 weeks
The alpha theory is a load of rubbish too
Consistency is the most important thing when training a puppy, the dog knows where they stand then and eventually you will see results!
When does she start biting, are you trying to pick her up, are you playing with her?
You could try yelping to show her it hurts you as that is what her litter mates would have done. With mine if they started to bite I would stand up, fold my arms and turn my back on them, and huff! Both of mine huff when they have had enough so your pup will know that means you've had enough too. If she carries on trying to bite you just calmly leave the room and ignore her. She will learn that she gets ignored when she bites. Dogs respond a lot better to body language than commands
For the teething you can stuff a Kong full of treats and put it in the freezer. Anything cold is great for her gums
I'm not going to lie you have a long road ahead and it won't stop overnight but make sure you are consistent and don't show frustration towards her. most husky puppies do it

Why do people take puppies so young? 12 weeks is the recommended minimum age so they have time to be socialised with siblings and educated by mum. Bit late for you now but bear in mind your pup is going to have to learn from you instead so the advice above about reacting as a sibling would etc. is wise words.

I thought the recommended age to get puppies is 8weeks. The mothers start pushing their pups away at around 6-7weeks. When your puppy bites, redirect it with a toy. If it keeps up, you can always put it in their cage for 2-5 minutes. Human body language is great. Just work with your puppy training consistently & daily. Eventually, it will all work out. Good luck with your precious puppy & never give up!🤗

It is 8 weeks but the longer they can stay the better , skyla was homed n then the breeder got her back we got her at 14 weeks but those extra couple of weeks back with mum meant I didn't have to teach her bite inhibition at all , she's never nipped

That would've been great for my ARMANI to stay with his Mama longer (and for me too and my arms)!! Oh he was such a HARD BITER but I never gave up thank God. That's thankfully all done now...whew!! That's awesome for SKYLA & you!

It’s like a child teething, they put anything and everything into their mouths, human hands and feet included, I gave mine frozen carrots or redirected with toys.
The biting won’t be solved overnight, you’ll need to be consistent with training and lots of praise when they bite on a toy or a carrot. It’s essential to get on top of this before their adult teeth come through. But also try to remember they’re not biting on you to be nasty, they’re teething, it’s just a case of training them not to bite on you.

Blaze was a nipper but a firm ahah! Stopped him , every time he would lick i would say give kisses so when he went to nip I'd then say give kisses n he would lick instead of nip then

I always do a firm OUCH when Sakura bites me and keep doing it if she does it again and eventually she realizes I don’t like it and licks my hand to make it better. She rarely grabs my hand anymore but if it’s even a slightly too much I still give her an OUCH and she looks sad and licks my hand saying sorry.

I tried EVERYTHING under the sun with ARMANI to stop biting (only me) for an entire year!! He wanted me to be a Husky & rough house & run 50mph! I wanted to get a second Husky but everyone said no don't until I get ARMANI under control. I had behaviorists, etc., but nothing worked. I was not going to let him be Alpha! (Though my forearms have scars all over.) But ARMANI never bit me in a vicious angry way, it was total hard play...though my Vet & Dad said don't let him mull me. I swear I tried everything but apparently missed something (duh). My Dad said, "ANGIE, I've never met a dog that isn't smart." So very truly!
That's when I went searching for a second Husky (a 6-month journey). I finally found the special one (ALINAH)!! Thank you God!! ALINAH may be small but she doesn't take any crap from ARMANI! Now everyone says that was the best thing I did for ARMANI & myself! ARMANI & ALINAH are true siblings, play hard, love each other so much, and give "Mommy" so much deep love & kisses! I couldn't ask for anything more! I may have scars, but it was worth everything!![emoji171][emoji252][emoji252]
