chelseafan
Any advice appreciated. For the last 2 days Cai has seemed depressed, he's eating his food and his stools are normal but he's changed. He's sleeping more than usual, he seems to have no energy at all. I took him for his run yesterday and he wasn't interested, and this is what he loves the most, he's not play fighting with Luka, it's worrying. He's ok on his walks, he's not talking but he's still very loving. I'm confused by this change, I've googled Lyme's disease, no ticks on him, I avoid long grass, but the symptoms seem to fit, any ideas? robke
Lyme disease is not something that will show quick and the amount of ticks that gives Lyme is not that many, I would not worry to much about Lyme...and we have tonnes more ticks here then in the UK...if you are so worried about that start using frontline or advantix from now I normally start end March beginning of April... Now Cai..could it be the change of weather, bitch on heat around you? our Alpha, even though neutered, gets a wee bit depressed when there is a bitch on head (our neighbours mutt oh no labradoodle) was on heat and he was not himself...
chelseafan
Mutt, I like that! I use the three monthly flea/tick tabs from the vets. We have an appt at the vets today at 3, he's the complete opposite of himself. A few of my neighbours have dogs but we don't see them, still... something to think about, thanks.Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app

chelseafan
Back from the vets and Cai has a temp of 39.5, vet was surprised as his ears and lymph nodes were fine, heartbeat fine, chest clear, anal glands fine, so antibiotics for 4 days, if not perked up by tomorrow have to take him back for bloods. He was having a good old nosey in the surgery and he ate his treats so she's not overly concerned, [emoji28] Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app

chelseafan
Thank you, he's not picking up so I'll be back there in the morning, hate it when they're ill, I never thought I'd say I'm missing the 6 am play fighting, at least you know they're well.Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app

Martian
Skye, (my 3 year old female), is exhibiting similar behaviour although she will still run outside, (for a few minutes), but then comes in of her own acord, (totally unlike her as you have to call her in usually), and then she heads straight for her crate and she won't come out. Skye has not been speyed. She is eating but appears listless and will then run back and forth be for settling down once again. I have felt her and she does not have any obvious abnormalities and she shows no sign of discomfort. I took her to the vets, yesterday, and all observations were fine and she prescribed an anti inflammatory just in case of any swelling? I will take her back tomorrow morning as I guess the next step is a blood test? All three of my other girls, (and Barney the cat), are fine! chelseafan
Its worrying isn't it, hope she's ok. The vet was puzzled with Cai, I think sometimes antibiotics are prescribed with the hope things will settle without any real diagnosis.Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
chelseafan
Cai's responding to antibiotics and all he wants to eat is chicken, so happy, he's slept practically all day and night yesterday and until 11.30 this morning. Luka's missed the play fights but he's been lying beside him, being quiet, felt as though I'd gone deaf for a while.Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
RobChaves
I think that the state of depression can be in both humans and animals. Therefore, it's important to take measures to eliminate them. When I notice a depressed state in my dog, I always try to spend more time with him, play, and fool around. But recently, I also faced a similar condition, when it was not without the help of a specialist https://twitter.com/calmerry_com?lang=en Online therapy helped me find inner harmony and cope with depression and negativity.
