Zoya's After-Surgery Check

Recommended Posts

Zoya is going in to her regular vet this morning. She is due for a Lyme vaccine and the doc is going to check the knee she had surgery on, to see if everything is as it should be. It's been about nine or ten weeks since her surgery. I have noticed lately, that she has a bit of a limp toward the end of the day. I know the tissue that acts as a pad between the tibia and femur, had to be removed during surgery because it was torn. That tissue, think it's called the meniscus, does not repair itself, and was catching, which addid to the pain. Not sure if that is the reason for her end-of-the-day limping, or if there is another cause. So want to talk to the vet on that topic.

Just got back. Vet really examined her knee joint. There remains some wiggle in the joint, but the vet said that was to be expected, and that we are still only half way through the period of healing. Scar tissue development is still going on, he indicated, so he wants to recheck her in about three months and compare to the notes he took today. He said he noticed nothing abnormal, nor anything that would concern him. We need to continue to watch over her and if her limping becomes overly noticeable, to give her a rest day. Her other knee, the good one, checked normal. All in all, things are where they should be.
