After one long inner debate, I relented on getting another Betta. I just got to make sure this one looks nothing like Blue, or else I'd feel like I'm just replacing him so this is Memory Lane, a bright red female veiltail. mydiamond Posted January 1, 2015 Author Report Share Posted January 1, 2015 Life is so much easier with the tank housing another soul. Mem is nothing like Blue. She's social, gives lots of kisses and as laid-back as a Betta can possibly be. Blue was almost like the scaly version of Diamond sporting two extra features: insatiable appetite and infinite amount of energy. Still, even with all these obvious differences, Mem can remind me of Blue quite a bit. But at least those tears no longer say 'I want Blue back'. She already has a pair partially hidden by her gills when I brought her home, but now she has another pair right by her eyes it's hard to catch on camera, but you'll notice one oddly-colored, shiny, single scale on this photo: This one is taken just a few minutes ago, showing Mem's new 'golden scale' behind her eyes. Don't think I even need pointers to show you which scale I'm talking about here. And this is a video I took last night, showing how the shiny scales look in real life.
