Well guys - it's here!!!!

Happy 5th Birthday Husky Owners!!!!!!!

I can't believe how quickly the past 5 years have gone by and to celebrate, i've put together some snap shots of how the forum has progressed over the years with the new softwear we've purchased and the hours of development Marc has put in

Also - we've updated the Logo and you'll also see everyone has party hats on their avatars :D

Version 1 - this wasn't around for long as we needed our own identity

Then we had this:

Now this lasted a bit longer, however as the forum continued to grow, we decided it needed to look more professional, so we purchased a designed skin / colour scheme that we could develop and work with:

We then changed the forums core software in order to add to the feature set that was on the forum

and improved again

Then the latest version to date is the one you're on now

So as you can see - an awful lot of time has been put into this place over the years, who knows how it will progress in the next 5 years!

so that's a bit about the techy side............ how did the forum begin - well, are you sitting comfortably?

In 2008 we purchased our first Siberian Husky Kimba - seen here running free    :kimba2:

He became the love of my life and i became hooked.  My husband Marc, worked a lot on forums etc and so one night after a huge row about how much time he spent on the computer compared with how much time he spent with us, i asked for my own forum - Husky Owners was born and went live on the anniversary of both my Grandma's deaths to mark a new beginning.

I wanted somewhere i could chat about Kimba and share pictures with other husky owners.  Eventually, I wanted to get enough people on here so that we could arrange walks because lets face it, you have to be a certain kind of special to own a husky   :heartbeat:

As the forum grew i could see we needed to be really on the ball with everything so more staff came on board who without, this forum wouldn't be the place it is today.  Not long after, I put a deposit down on another husky, unbeknown to the hubby   and 1 became 2 - the pack was growing in all aspects!

We decided that we wanted to always be a free and open site, with nothing to hide and no registration needed to view articles that could help others, which is why so many guests view this every day, and hopefully, members and non members have taken something away from a thread posted somewhere that's helped to enrich both the humans and the dogs lives.

This is a fun free and friendly forum designed to help out "pet" owners of this magnificent breed - we understand that not everyone that owns this breed will work or show them, I don't for a start, my boys are healthy and exercised, socialised and trained and the end result from that is they are happy.  We don't judge others and appreciate that everyone has a different method of working with their dogs and help is here 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. That being said we have members who do compete and work their dogs, and when you see these threads with their pictures and stories, you read them in awe.

We have had a lot of really successful camps over the years and have met so many people, who we would never have met if it wasn't for our love of this breed.  We've also had the pleasure of having members from abroad come to our UK camps who have won the chance to have their flight ticket paid for, and whilst sometimes I feel the forum is seen as predominantly UK enriched, it's heart undoubtedly is here, however our loving arms stretch around the world to each and every member - just take a look at the member map to see!

Finally (nearly at the end of my ramble lol), 2 years ago we re homed our final addition to our pack, my gorgeous blue eyed boy Koda - we struggled so much with him as we were his 6th home in 18 months, but we had somewhere to turn for help and advice - Husky Owners.  The help we got with him was amazing and I saw from the outside what we strive to give everyone, help, advice and support, and that still makes me smile even now because no matter how experienced you are, there will always be a time you want to turn to someone and ask a question.

So today is our 5th anniversary, and I hope we can all celebrate in some way - Cake is my preferred method of celebration today - have a slice, and enjoy!

Thank you for being part of this amazing family and for your past, present, and future contributions to this place.

I'm just so glad you had that row!!!!

This forum has been a great help with my dogs....Mia was so ill when I joined and you helped me through that tough time! You offered support and advice when we were looking to add to our pack and finally Teo joined us.

But not only that, I have made some great friends here who have laughed and cried with me....such a great support.

Well done Sarah and happy 5TH birthday to your fantastic forum xxx
