Possibly Blind Husky Puppy? HELP & ADVICE NEEDED IF POSSIBLE...

Recommended Posts

She is a beautiful pup ! I had a blind German Sheperd once, although he became blind later in his life, at about five years old, he navigated the yard very well, we had to change from hand signals to voice, although we had used both at one time. He lived and was loved for another 5 years. I am not a trainer, so do not know where I would start with a blind puppy, it will probably be more difficult to train, I agree that you need to figure out what is best for you, your family and the puppy.

I am sorry you are in this situation, I hope the other puppies find someone as responsible and dog loving as you.

Thanks for the replies peeps, waking up this morning felt like yesterday was just a bad dream, lol!

As for her sight, she is picking up movements now, me & my fiancee have had her responding to light & hand movements, especially from a distance, up close she seems 50/50 sometimes she will follow my hand, sometimes she will egnore it? but she is definitely NOT 100% blind, to what extent she can see i'm still unsure?? but were all over the moon with her progress so far, and to date, we still dont know 'exactly' how old she is? Cant trust a word that loonatic says, but going off size & weight and after watching numerous YouTube Videos and looking at numerous amounts of pictures, I assume she is maybes around 4 - 5 old weeks as of today? (Which means he's been selling Pups from 3 - 3 1/2 weeks onwards!) off to the Vets in a couple of weeks for a check up! :)

I'm going to get onto the RSPCA today as well, and inform them of his court order etc. and hopefully all his remaining puppies / dogs will be taken from him. Seen as he's going to the CLINK.

Anyway, we will keep you all updated with her progress including pictures! :D

Thanks for all the support!...nice to be able to come somewhere and vent my stress and anger towards that complete arse hole!! and apart from my fiancee & my girls its nice to speak to like minded people! who would probably do exactly the same thing for their pup/dog as I have done for Bowe, IFF it came to it...

Take Care all, Mark & Bowe.

nice to hear that she maybe getting some sight, and will be nice to meet her on some meets when she is old enough.

I dont understand people like that, i also dont understand why an animal rescue struggle so much to do their job properly...but not going to go off on one cause i dont understand how the RSPCA work :)

WERE GOING TO KEEP BOWE! :woohoo:

This plastered the biggest smile on my face!! I'm sure you'll do an amazing job with her :)

But what a weird weird man! Glad he's been arrested, even if it wasn't for the puppy things, and hoping all the other animals in his so-called 'care' are safely away from him now?

Thankyou for the above link ^^^ much appreciated!

Prices sound a lot more sensible than i'd of imagined!...however, the last couple of days, she has really, really improved!! :D ...think we caught the little girl just in time!? I will see how we progress from here but she's in for her inoculations in 3 weeks time, so i'll see what the Vet thinks progress wise and go from there.

Cheers tho VLad!

And I thought I ran into total lunatics! Well done, getting the real scoop on that idiot and taking the initiative to get current and future dogs away from him. I wonder how many people went there, got pups and shrugged at the care and conditions? Leaving pups to die of parvo??? OMG, that's just cruel.

So glad you're giving Bowe the home all dogs deserve!

Thanks elenamarie! I'm glad I did what I did, I can sleep a lot easier at night knowing I did the right thing, by bowe, her remaining sibling puppies and the elders! my Fiancee is really proud of me sticking my neck out for them all too, its earned me major browny points! :P lol...

A little update as far as the RSPCA goes;

Got a call from the officer this morning to say yesterday they got a warrant to enter the address (before he got bail - as the police couldn't find the axe, he threatened me and neighbour with) and took his pups & dogs from him! ...the only thing is, they only recovered 5 dogs and 3 pups from the address. Last time I was inside the house there was 8 or 9 18month + old dogs and the pups, so he's hid/got the others else where / or they weren't his - one of the two. Any way, the RSPCA said that their Vet has said the remaining 3 puppies were both BLIND, DEAF & FULL OF WORMS! poor things! :( and the 'Mam' was only around 2 - 2 1/2 years old! so she's had 2 litters by the age of 2 1/2 ish! bless her soul! (this 'breeder' / 'animal' wants putting down himself!) apparently the others seemed fine...

Glad they got all the dogs / pups that were there but I wonder where he's got the other dogs!?...

Anyhow, I've got the RSPCA officer coming round tomorrow night to tell me more, and to take a statement from me, to help to get him done...he's already broke his court order which I think i've already mentioned earlier and the fact that he's sold / tried to sell pups at around 3-4 weeks old he's in enough trouble as it is with the RSPCA / The Police, but hopefully my statement will help to go that extra mile!

Anyway, i've started another more positive post in the 'photos section' of the Forum, that i'll try and update regularly with pictures & info :) but anything regarding that TOSSER / 'BREEDER' i'll post here...

Thanks for reading, and thanks for all the positive vibes over this last week or so!...u've all been extremely helpful, and made it easy for me & my family to decide to do the right thing & give Bowe the life/chance she deserves and its already paying off! ...as she's putting on weight and is definitely NOT blind! :D even the Vets gunna' be chuffed to bits when I return with her!

Thanks again, I take my hat off to the lot of ya' ...what a lovely forum / community this is!

Admin head on - normally i'd edit your posts and remove the swearing (forum rules) however I have to say you language was rather toned considering the hell you've just been through! so i've left it ;)

So sorry you've gone through all that and really glad you weren't hurt!

She's got a fantastic life to look forward to now :)

I'm afraid I'd have had a really hard time keeping it "toned" to anything! I'd have been pissed and wouldn't particularly care who knew it! s200rey - it seems as if doing the right thing is out of style in todays world but kudos to you for doing the right thing! If you don't mind kick him a time or two for me!!

Wait, there were swear words? Where? Is this a case of British versus American swearing? I feel so ignorant now! ;)

So happy that man is getting what's coming to him. Idiot doesn't even begin to cover it! Those poor dogs :(

I'm sure they'll be able to get the other dogs away from him though. Spot visits when he thinks he's pulled one over and got some of the dogs back at his home should do it, I'd think?

Lovely to hear how Bowe's progressing too :) Sounds like she's in good hands.

So - whats the update on that puppy now ?

She's come along leaps and bounds, literally! :D ...goes for her 8weeks inoculations this Saturday coming, and I think the Vet is going to be MORE THAN IMPRESSED with her general health, dare I say it 'outstanding' eyesight, and her over all improvement! as 3 weeks ago, she diagnosed Bowe as totally blind.

Please have a look over in the photo's section, as i've started a new (more positive) post off there, named something like "Bowe, my rescue puppy"

Thanks everyone, for everything.

It's so terribly sad that these pups are not only being bred for money, but that they are also being badly neglected.

Lets hope the RSPCA take strong action against him.

I wonder what will happen to the other poor pups :(

This is one of the things that infuriates me the most, humans creating life with absolutely no regard or responsibility for it. It is so wrong and the laws need to be changed to stop this and make a difference.

I signed a petition tonight from Direct.gov website,to make changes to the law re the selling of animals on line.

Really hope this law is enforced and things start to chance.

No more innocent animals need to suffer for mans avarice!!!!:@

Sorry ,I get so upset.

Back to your dilema, well I really hope you can get your pups health back on track. If is does turn out she is blind, then there are specialist support groups out there for advice.

I would take care about shining lights in her eyes, just in case they are sensitive, I would leave all tests to a qualified vet.

You sound as if you really care about the little girl,I hope things get better for her.
