Why is there a knot at each end of the elasticated part? this is the shock lead, just the final version, the only difference is that there is now a handle near the clip for control (when passing other dogs etc) the knot is what holds the elastic and excess webbing in place, it is all one piece of webbing, we feed the elastic through the webbing, knot at one end leaving enough spare webbing before the knot for the handle. Then we gather the excess webbing over the cord, and then knot again, leaving the rest of the webbing free to make the other handle.
