Since we're going to Belgium next month for some relaxation and activities including some watersports we decided we should get Noa a swimmingvest. Since I'm absolutely crazy about Ruffwear it was obvious it needed to be a K-9 Float Coat. Got it cheap secondhand and tried it out yesterday. She doesnt mind swimming although she's not really fond of it aswell. Went in a few times and she swam pretty well :D

Well now for some less good news. Noa has been diagnosed with a liver shunt and has to undergo surgery upcoming friday. The symptoms she had were all there for example drowziness, not walking straight, blurred vision, not reacting to her name etc. This is due to a high ammonia level in her blood because her liver isnt filtering all her blood. This is because a vein is running behind her liver and is connected to another vein which doesnt go trough her liver.

For now she's on special food till friday. Chances are 60-70% that she'll turn out just fine and will turn into a normal old aged husky. Only 3% or so have under developed livers and will die within a year. So fingers crossed!

Well she did fine. They got rid of the shunt with a procedure using a cellophane around the vein. The body will react to it as on an infection and the vein will close slowly. Which is good. Then the " normal " vein trough the liver is supposed to take over and the liver will start developing aswell. So hopefully thats whats going to happen.

She's still on a special diet that they also use for kidney patients but she keeps throwing up. So next to her pain meds and antibiotics she's also getting an anti-vomiting med...

BUT, she's an happy and moving pup and she looks awesome!

She's doing great. Had some problems throwing up her food though so she got some extra meds for that. She doesnt seem to mind the wound on her belly at all and isnt limiting herself to moving etc. Instead of a hood she got a medical shirt on to prevent her from scratching open her stitching.

2 more pics!

Bad news. Today we had to put her to sleep after emergency surgery because of a hole in her intestin. This combined with the recovery of her previous proved to much. She woke up in a epileptic state and couldnt recover.

Devestated...weve been crying all day..
