Ross89
Hey, I have a male sibe husky whos about 3 1/2 months now hes on the hills dry food. About month and a half ago I noticed hes right pupil had gone to the size of a pin head but hes left was normal. There was a massive difference on size. About.15 mins later it got back to the same size as hes bigger pupil,.this happened gradualy. About a week or two later the exact same thing happened to the same eye, he wasnt doing much so didnt knock hes head or anything. Took to vet and tbh didnt really believe that it happened as I described, she was making sure there was a difference but cos it only lasts about 20 mins she said its really odd. If it was brain bleeding then it should last for at least a day. She looked into hes eye with microscope or something and said lens/iris and all that look fine. Since then its happened two more times but both times being from the other eye, again it gradually gets really small then slowly goes back to normal. Ive shined a light in hes eye before and both pupils react at same time, and he can see from both (he reacts in both eyes seperatly) I managed to get a picture this time aswell. Can anyone help it gets me really worried ive never seen it before, quite worring vet didnt know, much either!
shadow01
If it continues to happen I would ask your vet to refer you to an eye specialist, or ask for their phone number and ask for advice over the phone.
persephona
It can be a neurological issue. I would rather ask to be referred to specialist in canine neurology (especially since she said the eyes are fine, but maybe an eye specialist would be able to tell you more). Does your dog pull on the lead? I have once heard of this happening because of a slip collar and a dog pulling on the leash... if that's happening, maybe some nerves are getting squished or something like this causing only one pupil to dilate. Also there are certain plants that can cause this, I am not sure which, I just know that it can happen after contact with those plants. Here is a link on this condition: http://www.petplace.com/dogs/anisocoria-in-dogs/page1.aspx http://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/eyes/c_multi_anisocoria
Ross89
Thanks for the replies and advice! I was hoping it may be a husky thing seems not! Hes got vets next week for weight check up ill have to ask again but looks like ill have to go to a specialist. He pulls on the lead a little bit but has a harness, it actually first happened before he was even allowed out actually. This might sound weird but can it be anything to do with diet? He was on some pets at home brand first but that was giving him runny poo so changed it to the hills and it only started happening after this, I know it most prob is just a coincidence but is there a chance it could be too rich for him or something? Maybe messimg with hes blood cells? Come to think of it my dad is a carpet cleaner and had all the chemicals stored in the house but out of reach for the pets, but we do spray some type of cleaner around the house, my dad knows what it is, the other dog(german shepherd) or cats doesmt react
