miguel
okay, so I have a four and a month old sibe, she's losing hair on her tummy and hind legs. im not sure if she's really losing or if its just turning red, but as she loses hair on those parts the skin is reddish something like a rash. is this normal? if not what should I do? Mazz
It is not normal. Could be anything from an allergic reaction, to a case of mites, to mange. Probably best to have your vet take a look. Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk.
Val (Zebedee)
I agree with Mazz, it's doesn't sound like a normal thing to happen, I would have a vet check her out
Michelle Melsom
Could be mange, allergies or fleas. You will have to go to the vet to get a skin scraping to know for sure. Benadryl can be given to your dog, the dose is 1mg per pound every 8 hours for itching due to allergies if the dog is itching...have u noticed ? Well its not incurable but treatment is rarely successful. Is your dog actually losinghair? It kind of looks like it in the one pic becasue it seems shorter on the front legs and the rump but if its just a color thing then it could be because huskies change shades all the time. There are different types of follicular dysplasia, structural, atrophic, and cyclic . Structural varies by breed but all involve weakened hairs that break easily. Hair loss is usually in places where you brush alot or somwhere like under the collar where it rubs alot. The hair can regrow but the hair will be even weaker. It usually affects dogs between 2-4 years, and it is most commonly seen on the back towards the tail. Atrophic is a pattern baldness and cyclic is seasonal. There is also color dilution alopecia. For sibes and mals they have a type of follicular dysplasia that occurs between the ages of three and four months where the guard hairs on the body are progressively lost and the coat turns a reddish color. It occurs later is mals I think? Anyways the last one might be what your dog has but its harder to tell since shes already redish If your dog is not fixed you should fix it as this is hereditary

Im not sure if she lost the hair, but it seems like it since the dark color is almost all gone now. The hair on her chest, head, and front legs is much longer and colorful than the short fuzzy hair on her back, tail, and hind legs. Here is another picture where you can see the long normal looking hair in the front and then it just stops and is all white and ALOT shorter towards the back. Her tail is also really short hair with no color and the tip has some really long red hairs growong out of it.
