HuskyCouture
My naughty girl keeps eating her tail when she's in her kennel. Is she doing it because of irritiation, or because she's bored? What do you guys think? She's chewed it all the way down to the bone, and it looks hideous lol
Andy
Hmmmm, when we rescued Darwin he had already stripped most of the fur from his tail. from what I can understand it was stress, being cooped up all day, not enough exercise and as you said boredom. This was Darwin a few days after we got him and while it's not a brilliant photo, you can see nearly a year later how it's recovered. Hope you can find out what's stressing her out. aronoiiel
How long is she crated before she starts it up? It really sounds like boredom unless there's been a dietary change.
HuskyCouture
No dietary changes. I don't know when she starts chewing her tail, I've only caught her doing it a couple of times. She's kenneled roughly, 7 hours a day while I'm working. But she's excercised and has toys in her kennel with her :/
Andy
Can you pop home in your lunch hour to give her 10 mins out ?? Or have a friend or family member who can give her a walk halfway through ??
HuskyCouture
I'm gonna try to, I only get a 30 minute break, but I work pretty much down the street.. I think I'm gonna try getting her a larger kennel too, maybe she's feeling too cramped in it?
sutsibe
Is she licking or chewing at her paws at all? If so, there could be allergies involved. If not, I would think that it could well be boredom or stress.
