Digital Cameras

I'm looking to purchase a new digital camera. I currently have a Nikon Coolpix L18 and it takes FOREVER to take a picture so it annoys me. I'm considering a Nikon Coolpix S6100 or a S8100. Do you guys have any experience with either of these cameras or is there one you would suggest? Thanks :-)

I have a Nikon D90. If you want to take action shots you have to invest in a DSLR.

It's not the camera body that matters so much - it is the lens. You must have a good lens to take good pictures.

I currently have a NIKKOR lens. (AF Zoom-Nikkor 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF) It is VERY good at taking action shots and zooms in pretty nicely.

My whole setup cost me (well, my Dad. :P ) almost 2 grand, I think. The lens was worth more than the camera body; like it should be.

Whoa, fancy! Lol. I'm just looking for something nice and simple haha. I wish I could afford an awesome camera like that though

Ok may be able to find and recommend a half decent "Bridge" camera for that sort of money. . .

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-Lumix-14-1MP-Digital-Camera/dp/B003WOKU4W/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1314475204&sr=1-3

Here you go.

This will take superb pictures.

it can be used as easy as "point and shoot"

or go into the manual modes for more control.

But even in "Point and Shoot you'll get superb results. :)

If you do the conversion, that price is over their budget by almost $100. We're talking in dollars here, not Euros! lol

I finally found the website I've been looking for. Ken Rockwell is superb at what he does - his website is what helped me pick my setup because, before him, I had no idea what I wanted.

http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/is-it-worth-it.htm

http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/recommended-cameras.htm

Read through that website to see what camera will suit your needs, then price them out and compare. We can help you, too, of course.

Ah, darn lol. I will be trying to take a picture of the dogs when they're doing something cute and by the time my camera takes the picture, they've stopped!

Know the feeling! Although, it is mostly our fault for not learning our camera very well, just now stumbled on to all kinds of new things about it we didn't know. Its a cannon something or other for around $350 and we love it

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally bought myself a new camera!!!! I purchased a Nikon S9100.....I read a bunch of negative reviews about it online, but haven't had any issues with the camera and I've found that it takes some wonderful pictures. It also has some really cool effects you can use. I'm sure I will post some photos on here eventually :click:
