Andy
Not going to be starting homechecks on husky owners of anything like that. This is for rescues to do and we are not a rescue. Reasons are simple really. Baring in mind we want to be a friendly forum, imagine the first time someone gets refused in the name of husky owners. Or even the first person who rehomes on our saying "yeah they ok" and it goes wrong. We are far too much of a social site to do anything like that. These things are best left to the individuals that are rehoming and the people who are set up for this purpose having no social element to their organisation. And Richard ... Breath LOL LOL. . . Damn me for being able to sit on the fence. I can see Marc's point too . .

BingBlaze n Skyla
hey up... im registered but can't see the section is that right? its because u only have 305 posts
Staceybob
I think this is a good idea... but although this website isn't a rehoming site, shouldn't we embrace the fact that people would turn to experienced husky owners to rehome their dog rather than general rehoming sites? Afterall, the majority of huskies are passed around because they go to inexperienced owners, so surely giving new people the opportunity to come to us is a good thing? I like the idea of allowing new people to post a rehome but only members with a certain amount of posts being allowed to see them. Shadowpup
Ultimatly it's up to the admin on how they do it. But I must admit if I ever lost my home and had to rehome Yuri or Aya I'd rather it was someone who had been around for a while and that I knew, or that my friends on here who I trust know and can tell me about. But I also agree that lots of people are using this site as a way to get a free husky and it's been annoying me too. I do tend to refer them to welfare. I do see why you guys have done it and I do agree with it. This is a place for us to socialise and not a place to get a free dog. I wouldn't have Aya if it wasn't for this place and her previous owner only had a few posts, so thats the only reason I mentioned it. Charley
Depends on which way you look at it. We have had members join who have posted 200 posts within a week. Maybe set the barrier at a time period instead of a number of posts, that way if your not a big poster but come on the site regularly you could still view the section? By the way, fully agree with the decision you've made here - the forum is a social site and I think that's the way it should be However if I ever had to rehome mine I would prefer to do it through here rather than preloved or gumtree for example as I know she would be going to someone who knew how to treat her
Marc
You would still be able to rehome here if needed. We will be sorting something in that respect as this is not what we are trying to avoid
Sid_Wolf
love this, thanks marc You know how much it annoyed me seeing 'randoms' turning up every time a dog became avaliable, it does my head in! Not only that but everyone commenting on Keyu's thread was just stroking her ego, and tbh, its plenty bit enough atm!! (damn teenagers!) Brilliant idea

Tan J P
I can't see the rehome section and logged in?? thats because you haven't done 500+ posts as stated in the thread! come on,keep up!
RoseWillow&Dexter
I think this is a great idea! Although 500 posts is a little steep there are many people that use the site that don't post all that often but are well known around the site
Kissu & Aara
I do agree 500 is a bit discouraging, for someone who is shy and doesnt have much to say.
valkyries
but if they want to be entrusted with some ones beloved dog, they will post and let people get to know them, so that they maybe considered. i traveled 4 = 3 hour trips to just visit Thor before we was allowed to bring him out of rescue, we also had a home check and we had to attend a 1 hour meeting to be sure we were the right people for him. is that to much ??? hell no. so 500 posts is a walk in the park if you really want the dog you are after. If i ever had to rehome mine believe me you'd have to do a dam sight more than 500 posts to show me your worthy of them xxxxxxx
Charley
How would new people even know that there is a rehome section they will be able to view when they get to 500 posts? I can't see it now as my post count is quite low and if I'd joined today and hadn't read this post I wouldn't even know it existed... Tripled
It's a shame it some ways, but I can see where your coming from. It's a shame that some people just see it as a way of a financial gain rather than in the well being of the dogs. There's a local facebook group I signed up for which was 'Animals and animal stuff forsale', it's full of people trying to off load animals. One recently was a Husky X GSD where they said 'I've spent loads of time trying to train them' the dog was 16 weeks old!
valkyries
if people are genuine about wanting a dog they will come here to research ask questions, get to know people. one of their questions would probably be where can i fine a dog, someone will tell them about the section and if genuine they will stick around get them selves known xxxxx do their posts At the end of the day would you not want to know some thing about the person ?? Get to know them and what they know about the breed ?? Feel better knowing their willing to work and learn to get your dog ?? Or would you prefer us to keep it open so any one can just pop on, tell you what you want to know then take your dog ???? not really knowing much about them, then finding out down the line the dogs been bred from, beaten, neglected or sold on ???? I know which i choose. DO YOU ????
Charley
As I already said, I fully agree with Marcs decision as this is a social site and should be used primarily for that purpose. I'm just unsure of how it would work... but that makes sense that someone would ask around for where to get a husky from and one of us would tell them then about the section if they are truely interested - didn't think of that :/
Andy
If i ever had to rehome mine believe me you'd have to do a dam sight more than 500 posts to show me your worthy of them xxxxxxx Oh, Hell yes. !! Tan J P
really just want to echo what a lot of said what is the problem? this site was set up to grow as a community, the last thing wanted is word of mouth''join h/o and get a rehome for free'' if you are genuinely wanting a husky then post away....simples! if you genuinely need to rehome your husky, then start a thread and let it be known your reasons....simples again! We rescued Tia(not off here) because i'd made it known to the right people we were interested in doing so and we were thankfully known by them enough to be trusted with her,but i couldn't imagine if for whatever reason (god forbid!) i had to rehome mine allowing them to go to some1 who had just joined here! i may not have met any of you personally, but, there are quite a few that i know i would trust just from conversations/posts and i'm sorry to generalise but a ''newbie'' wouldn't be one of them.
