slaves to kaya Posted July 29, 2010 Report Share Posted July 29, 2010 At 7.30pm our vet knocked our door to say that unfortunately our wonderful 2yr old cat boog had been hit by a car and killed instantly. He had been taken to the closest vet, ours, where he was identified. He really was one in a million. We had rehomed him jan 08 when his previous owners had dumped him outside our vets in the snow. They scanned him and rang his owner who said do with him what you want!! He then had an operation for a retained testicle and was neutered at the same time. That same day our dog yogi was due his boosters and our vet happened to mention that they had a cat which had been dumped. Knowing what we are like for animals they asked if we would like to rehome him. We took him home the next day and he changed our lives overnight. He was the most sociable cat I had ever known and quickly introduced himself to our neighbours by climbing in through their window. He would call by saying "Hallo" and would always follow us around wherever we went. Many a trip to the toilet was spent with boog on our lap, or he would sit in the sink waiting for you to turn the tap on as he loved running water. boy could he hunt, everyday without fail he would bring us a present. We are distraught at loosing him, life will always have the hole in he has left behind. The children are devastated as are we. They have spent the last hour writing him goodbye letters to put in with him. We have the horrible task of going to pick him up at the vets tomorrow, saying our loving and heartfelt goodbyes and burying him. Run free at the bridge boog, and keep a listen out for us sweetheart. Didn't go to bed till gone 1am trying to console the children, then listen to them sobbing their hearts out in their bedrooms when we had settled them. Been up since 5am, Just couldn't sleep, dreading going to pick him up at the vets this morning. I know he was only a cat but he was such a HUGE part of our family, as all our animals are, but his light shone than little bight brighter, he was such a character. Starting to remember him with smiles now, still heavy hearts, as I am sure we always will have. Life ain't the same without chasing the live rabbit around the kitchen that boog thought should come live with us.
